Why is Angela Merkel shaking?

This is not a goady thread, I feel genuinely concerned. It must be awful trying to fulfil your role with all eyes on you & cameras & then your body decides to go into full shaking mode. In the second clip I've seen, she clasps her hands about her waist as if to try & 'hold' it. I have no idea but could it be a thyroid thing or something diabetes related? I'm just curious, any ideas?

It's been up 40C here in Germany the last week, plus humidity, plus mosquitos

When you go outside, the heat is like a physical blow, very draining

We are advised to stay indoors 11 am - 3pm

I don't know if the heat has affected her, or if she is not drinking enough extra water, or is just not very well

I like and respect her I hope she's okay.

Maybe she just needs a break! She's been doing the job for 14 years or so, she must just be in need of some time off.

PickAChew · 27/06/2019 23:19

She's an older lady and a little large and, even with minor health problems, the heat over there is pretty punishing, right now.

TokyoSushi · 27/06/2019 23:19

I do hope that it's nothing serious but she does look quite unwell at the moment.

I have a lot of admiration for her and it's worrying to see somebody who usually appears to so strong looking vulnerable.

Kuru (Same as Hillary)

I think everyone knows that this is ridiculous. They're both lizard people, so couldn't possibly contract a disease only spread through eating human brains - they'd be immune.

I would need at least a hat, and possibly sunglasses. Must be sweltering.

PickAChew · 27/06/2019 23:25

Picking up on other posts, venous insufficiency, which can be a symptom of very common connective tissue disorders, can make you very heat intolerant. I'm a mess anywhere above 25C.

Some tremors have no known causes, it may just be as simple as that
Shakes / tremors are also made worse when stressed or under physical exhaustion
I would say her job is pretty stressful and that it's exhausting esp in current heat
Hopefully it is something simple and uncomplicated

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 23:29

Certain medications can cause a person to shake. My brother is on medication for MH issues. He has the shakes.

AdoraBell · 27/06/2019 23:53

I’m also concerned about her health. Could well be stress. I’ve ended up in hospital with much less stress than she must be exposed to.

BeerandBiscuits · 28/06/2019 08:18

I wish the cameras would pull back a bit, no need to scrutinise her so closely when she's obviously feeling ill and trying to hold things together.

mrsmagoo · 28/06/2019 08:30

beerandbiscuits I agree, the cameras should not be zooming in on her. It's so intrusive when she is clearly not well, for whatever reason. Give her some space. knowing she is going to be zoomed in on and the focus of everyone's speculation is likely to make her even more stressed and make her shaking worse. Poor woman. I wish her well and hope its nothing serious.

High temperatures can definitely lower your blood pressure - it causes vasodilation, which is widening of the blood vessels. This decreases your blood pressure as the flow of blood increases. Your body does this to increase heat loss via the skin (and cool you down) but if you already have low blood pressure or the heat is extreme, it can cause issues.
