Hi, can anyone recommend a solid shampoo and conditioner company that isn’t Lush please. Thanks.

I buy beauty kubes or whatever takes my fancy on the babipur website!

POP7777777 · 26/06/2019 00:07

Sapphire Soaps do some lovely shampoo bars.

playftseforme · 26/06/2019 00:20

I use Amor Luminis which have a shampoo and conditioner block set for blonde/silver hair which is amazing. But it's an Aussie brand so not sure how widely available outside Oz or whether it can be shipped. There are a couple of web stores that sell it.

The family also use the Ethique range (solid soaps, conditioners, shower bars) and my DH has even been converted.

@Pixilicious wasn't their campaign against Spycops specifically, ie the state sanctioned rape of several women, rather than being 'anti-police'?

Pixilicious · 26/06/2019 18:47

@moofolk if you read the small print but how many people would know that based on this window display?

I refuse to shop at Lush for same reason

Olliphant · 26/06/2019 19:16

I use Oliva' bars for shampoo, amazing. Only made of olive oil and water and don't make hair dry. Then I use conditioner made by a company in Devon, called the natural spa, and you can buy both on Amazon. My hair is better than before and I have dry curls xx

Laquila · 27/06/2019 15:03

Olliphant that’s interesting - I’ve just started using the Oliva bar on my body and I hadn’t realised it would be ok on hair. I also have dry curls!

MrsGrannyWeatherwax · 27/06/2019 15:10

Just pleased to see I’m not the only one who won’t buy from Lush after that campaign (and the media handling afterwards)

moofolk · 28/06/2019 17:09

I'm confused as to why anyone would defend spycops?! They systematically tricked women into sexual relationships based on lies, this is state sponsored rape.

There are things about Lush I don't like but taking a stand against policemen raping environmentalists is not one of them.

chrislilleyswig · 28/06/2019 17:19

I'm another Lush boycotter after their atrocious advertising. I like the sound of the Shetland company. I'm always keen to support social enterprises

It wasn’t just the spy cops (which wasn’t clear on first sight and appeared to be anti police) but also their gender stance.

Oldraver · 02/07/2019 09:01

I've just finished using one for the Clovelly Soap Company.

Just taken delivery of a Foamie Shampoo bar and have hung it up in the shower (it has a little ribbon on it) and the smell is wafting out

Jog22 · 02/07/2019 09:04

Absoluteunit · 02/07/2019 09:11

Are shampoo bars better than liquid then?
Or is it to avoid packaging? A shop near me sells liquid shampoo that you take your own container for so I've been doing that. Am I missing out on something with bars though?

PrincessaCarrisi · 02/07/2019 09:12

I was going to say Ethique but I can see I was beaten to it!
Ethique works really well for my hair, and as a pp said they are apparently launching in the UK soon.

MulticolourMophead · 02/07/2019 09:22

I've avoided Lush for a long time, as their shampoo bars have SLS in, as do a number of their other products.

But their advertising left a sour taste in my mouth, it was badly done. I agree about the use of spy cops, it was wrong, but the whole thing had an anti police feel.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/07/2019 15:50

I rarely used them after they turned DS blue and glitter Gate (I am still finding bloody glitter in my nethers).

The ‘oops we didn’t mean that’ anti police and anti woman nonsense just finished them off for me.

ShutUpLegs · 03/07/2019 19:19

I got an email this morning - Ethique are launching in Holland & Barratt from 17 July. Yippee!

ShetlandWife · 04/07/2019 08:37

I happened to speak to someone from the shetland soap company the other day and mentioned this thread. She says that the only reason the shampoo bars are not on there is that they are in such high demand that she'd be worried that they wouldn't be able to keep up. Everything is handmade on site, and it takes three weeks for the shampoo bars to cure, so it takes time to restock.

ShetlandWife · 04/07/2019 08:37

By 'on there', I mean on the website.

Cheesymonster · 04/07/2019 08:58

So glad you started this thread OP. I also won't shop at Lush for the same reason (DH is a police officer) and am also looking for shampoo bars, so thank you.

Likethebattle · 04/07/2019 08:59

I used to love lush but all my favourite things were discontinued and I hate the way they jump on you. It’s fine to ask if I need help but when I say ‘i’m Ok just having a k’ Please don’t latch onto me and making me smell things and rub things on me. They are also so overpriced now.
