Hi we are going to USA shortly. Please give me some ideas for biscuits not usually found there, we'd like to take some to family.

Last time we took shortbread and would welcome other suggestions
Thanks all Grin

I always get asked for the m&s selection boxes for extended family and tunnocks for my sister.

Stravapalava · 24/06/2019 17:29

Custard creams
Foxes crunch creams
Jammy dodgers
M&S posh chocolate ones

Closetlibrarian · 24/06/2019 17:35

chocolate hobnobs

amgine · 24/06/2019 19:30

Just don’t ask for biscuits over there. Definitely not the same as here.

rosydreams · 24/06/2019 19:33

lotus biscuits
shortbread

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/06/2019 19:34

Aren’t ‘biscuits’ scones over there?

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/06/2019 19:35

Biscuits are similar to plain scones, I love them and make them at home with sausage gravy.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/06/2019 19:38

Scones and gravy? That’s either completely bonkers or evil genius.

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/06/2019 19:40

Definitely evil genius, try it.

amgine · 24/06/2019 19:40

Biscuits and Gravy is an abomination of a breakfast!

midsomermurderess · 24/06/2019 19:46

I'd also say Jaffa Cakes and a range of Tunnock's, eg tea cakes and snowballs.

RaininSummer · 24/06/2019 20:07

Bath Oliver and chocolate Olivers.

Katinski · 24/06/2019 20:11

The selection box is a good call, OP.

TerfOnTheWagon · 24/06/2019 20:12

My friends are always grateful for good old McVities choc digestives! In fact I took some to a gig abroad and passed them round during a set-break - the ex-pat Brits and Aussies fell on them like they were gold GrinGrin

chemenger · 24/06/2019 20:12

Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. Or M&S chocolate selection. Or anything with nice chocolate on it. Here in Boston I can get Walker's shortbread in any food store.

Biscuits and gravy are almost as foul as grits.

Bumblenut · 24/06/2019 20:13

Not biscuits but I’d take Thornton’s toffee. Have a great trip!

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/06/2019 20:19

I like grits too, I'm clearly quite odd Grin

TheRLodger · 24/06/2019 20:22

I’d take a couple of family circles. That way everyone can choose what they fancy. Or try a variety of different types Biscuit

PigeonofDoom · 24/06/2019 20:31

Dark chocolate gingers- best biscuits in the world.

solargain · 24/06/2019 21:37

We have mcvites, hobnobs and many British biscuits sold here. There's even a local store selling Duchy biscuits.

Custard creams and jammie dodgers we don't have. We also don't have decent flavoured crisps. No chicken, beef or bacon. And no Scampi Fries or Frazzles!

JayeAshe · 24/06/2019 21:42

Yeah I know ...
Biscuits USA =/= scone type dumpling things with gravy
Cookies USA =/=biscuits UK
Our USA family like UK biscuits ha ha !

Thanks for the recommendations so far, any more would be v welcome Grin

And the gravy is more like mushed up sausage in white sauce, rather than what we would think of as gravy in the UK.

I was going to say shortbread, but you've already done that.

I'd take Borders biscuits, probably the chocolate ginger ones. Or jaffa cakes. Can you get florentines in the US?
