So is it worth doing two days? Or could you get it done in one? Plus are the waiting times for rides really long? Dont mind waiting like half hour but longer than that DD will get bored. Will be going when the Scottish school holidays are on but england will still be in school next year?

Hopeful bump

Definitely worth doing 2 days and getting q-bots.

DorisDaisyMay · 23/06/2019 16:30

I thought it was tired and the rides not worth the wait. I would never go back and I wouldn’t recommend it. Sorry.

We've only ever done one day but feel like we've managed to do loads in that time. Last time we went was on an inset day, it was busy but not manic, you just need to optimise your time e.g get there for park opening so you can have a look around and be by the entrance for when they open up the rest of the park and head for one of the most popular rides straight away like the driving school. Also take lunch with you and eat it whilst watching the pirate show. We've always had a great time, but as with a lot of places it is what you make of it.

noblegiraffe · 23/06/2019 16:40

2 days better than one, we get a qbot for one day and do rides and the other day doing the shows, 3D cinema, looking around the Big Shop and so on. If the weather’s nice the splash park is great so bring swimming costumes.

Ricekrispie22 · 23/06/2019 16:54

It really depends on the age of your DD and whether you can stay all day, from when the gates open until park closing. The Park officially opens at 10:00 a.m. as that’s when the rides open. But you can access the park from 9:30 a.m.

There are several queue- free attractions such as Lego Reef, Miniland, Brickville, Star Wars miniland experience, rock climbing, Kai’s Spinners, Jay’s Lightning Drill, temple build, castaway camp, enchanted forest, splash safari and the model making studio. There are also shows. Do all these during the busiest times which are late morning and mid afternoon. Do the popular rides first thing, last thing and during lunchtime. You can tell which ones have the longest queues as they’re the ones you can get a Q-bot for.

Food is very expensive there and everywhere to eat has long queues so its best to take a picnic. There are plenty of spots for picnicking.

IggyAce · 23/06/2019 17:01

Definitely 2, we didn’t use q bots. We went a couple of years ago when the ninjargo ride was new and waited around an hour for that. That was our longest wait.

Take a packed lunch and eat it while waiting/watching one of the shows, they had a pirate one and Lego friends when we went.
Get to the park early I think we arrived 9:15ish both days got parked easily and had bags checked, we then went and had a look round the mini village one day and stars wars exhibit the next.

It's mainly the rides that DD would want she'll be 10 and is a complete thrill seeker. Will have a 2 year old and an 9 month old with me but there will be 4 adults too one for DD to ride with and 3 of us to attend to the youngsters

Mayvis · 23/06/2019 18:12

If she's 10 and a thrill seeker, she'll be bored. The rides are very tame. Much more suited to under 8's.

EssentialHummus · 23/06/2019 18:14

Get the free LL app for an idea of queue times. When went recently (with toddlers), had a blast and felt that one day was enough. And yy to bringing own food - expensive, shit, long queues at their concessions.

leghairdontcare · 23/06/2019 18:15

I love Legoland. I don't think I would do two days as I've never left feeling there's something I haven't done. We always stay a full day and have qbots though. I wouldn't say its good for thrillseekers though, all of the rides are quite small and suitable for younger children.

Gottoloveabagel · 23/06/2019 18:16

Yes at 10 they are growing out of it, especially if they like decent rides!

gatsby2019 · 23/06/2019 18:24

I was there today and it was dire, have been before twice and really enjoyed it but would not go back. 3 rides out of order (maybe more but 3 that I tried), all staff appeared to be teenagers so no good when problems, it seemed tired and resting on its laurels, 1 day, but whole day should suffice

CleverQuacks · 23/06/2019 18:25

We went and I was really disappointed. The wait times are huge and we only got on a few rides. Also everything need a good lick of paint.

NotSoThinLizzy · 23/06/2019 18:31

Ahh thanks it's quite a travel to get to anywhere from us to legoland it would be 612 miles so dont want to travel far for it to be crap. Would skegness area be a better bet? Treasure island?

OP posts:
Shetlandponyranger · 23/06/2019 18:36

What about Alton towers? Then you have CBeebies land for the little ones too and plenty of rides for your thrill seeker 10 yr old

NotSoThinLizzy · 23/06/2019 18:41

Oh forgot about them will have a lookie.

OP posts:
HermioneWeasley · 23/06/2019 18:42

How about Drayton Manor - thrill rides for her, Thomasland for younger ones

FurryTurnipHead · 23/06/2019 18:46

We went very recently , would definitely not recommend for a 10 year old thrill seeker.. We enjoyed it, but we have a 7 year old thrill avoider! The rides are extremely tame indeed. We didn't have to queue for long (inset day) but if we had done I'd have been extremely disappointed. Alton Towers a good bet.

Ricekrispie22 · 23/06/2019 18:47

Blackpool pleasure beach?

xyzandabc · 23/06/2019 18:53

I would say it is more for 8s and under. Though if your 10 yr old has never been to any other theme park then I'm sure it will still be exciting. If you just want to do rides then 1 day is fine. If you want to do rides plus all the shows, take a nice long look around miniland, go in the splashpark and building workshop bits then you could easily fill 2 days.

I would advise getting there before it opens and staying until closing time. You'll get on most rides with fewest queues in the 1st hour and then after 3pm if the English schools are still at school. In the last hour or half hour it's quite possible to get off a ride and go straight back round again in our experience on inset days as the park really empties out. As any school groups, those with toddlers, and those who have to do the afternoon school run have all gone home.

Good is expensive and not great, and sitting to eat in a restaurant takes time away from enjoying other attractions. We used to take a packed lunch and eat it while watching the pirate show. To get a decent seat for the pirate show I'd get there 20-30 mins before show time then you can sit and eat lunch while you wait. Have plenty of snacks for while you queue.

And never ever pay the gate price. Always get 2 for 1 deal from cereal packets or use tesco vouchers or find other similar deals, plenty around.

knowsmorethansnow · 23/06/2019 18:55

Chessington would be better for those ages.

NotSoThinLizzy · 23/06/2019 19:03

Great ideas 😊 blackpool we've done. I remember legoland more than 10 years ago so may have nostalgia goggles on

OP posts:
UnderPompeii · 23/06/2019 19:06

Thorpe Park is good as long as she's tall enough for the rides.
Sadly I have to agree that Legoland is now tired and not well maintained. Long queues and not many exciting rides. I have fond memories of it from when my boys were little but its not been well looked after.
