What can I fill up on?! I'm starving everyday!

I'm breastfeeding so need to eat more than I am doing as I'm loosing weight!

I'm having 3 meals a day but feeding on chocolate & biscuits in between.

What else can I snack on that isn't sugar or expensive or boring?

No one suggest nuts or fruit please! Oh and carrot sticks just don't cut it for me.

I'm in a similar position, and I eat ice lollies by the box full. Calories can add up so be careful, or make your own! But they satisfy my sweet tooth, and as they take me a while to eat i don't feel peckish afterwards compared to something I'd demolish in a second and then go looking for more.

Full fat Greek yoghurt with raspberries and drizzled honey
Falafels
Bread sticks and hummus/dips
Chunsk of cheese and grapes.
Oatcakes and Philadelphia

Bloody hell I'm hungry now. Thanks op.

Salad with hard boiled eggs for protein. Homemade vegetable soup or ham and bean soup. Turkey or chicken wraps. A quick omelette with a bit of cheese and a sprinkle of chili powder. I would focus on protein-heavy food and avoid the rubbish sugary food. You may be losing weight now, but that WILL change, so breaking bad habits now is in your best interests.

Greek eggs - boiled eggs with hummus in the yolk bit

Turkey roll ups - slices of turkey with avocado and pepper rolled up

Protein balls - make them. They're super easy and delicious. High in protein and all the sugars are natural.

Beef jerky

Cottage cheese (with pineapple chunks if you're like me)

Greek yogurt, half banana and honey

Protein shake (read guidelines on bfing - not all shakes are made equal)

That's what I can think of off the top of my head.

Always useful to have those protein balls milling about and boiled eggs are a must in my fridge as well. I'm a snacker and if that stuff isn't in there, I go for the bad stuff like biscuits and chocolate.

Aquamarine1029 · 19/06/2019 22:01

Also, make EXTRA sure that you are drinking loads of water while breastfeeding. Dehydration makes you think you feel hungry even when you're not.

justasking111 · 19/06/2019 22:02

Do you want to lose weight or are you trying to avoid losing weight?

greenlynx · 19/06/2019 22:03

Celery or cucumber sticks with low fat soft cheese.

SisterMaryLoquacious · 19/06/2019 22:04

Peanut butter toast (still bitter that I wasn’t allowed to eat it while I was pg and bf).

Love51 · 19/06/2019 22:06

Could you just make bigger meals and eat leftovers as a snack?
Hard boiled eggs.
Toast and Philly / avocado / hummous (pick one!)
Drink milk? I know you don't need to when breastfeeding, but it is quite a filling drink.
Full fat Greek yoghurt with berries and seeds (I realise we a heading into fruit territory here)
Chicken sticks / samosas / whatever you fancy from the supermarket deli.
Not sure if you might class some of these things as expensive - loads of them are cheap if you shop at a market, but not everyone lives near a market any more.

SisterMaryLoquacious · 19/06/2019 22:06

Avocados with a nice balsamic dressing.
Peanut butter and banana sandwiches (still not over it).

TooMinty · 19/06/2019 22:08

Remember to drink plenty of water. Have full fat everything (milk, butter, yogurt etc) - no low fat or diet versions. Oatcakes with cheese are quite filling or mashed avocado on toast. But nothing wrong with enjoying a couple of biscuits or a slice of cake too Smile

moreismore · 19/06/2019 22:08

As above but also make sure you’re staying well hydrated as I often eat when actually I’m really thirsty.

Teacakeandalatte · 19/06/2019 22:09

This is my dream! I would have a big bowl of macaroni cheese and a big slab of fruitcake for tea.

SisterMaryLoquacious · 19/06/2019 22:09

Home made Popcorn

WatcherOfTheNight · 19/06/2019 22:09

I will add microwave porridge with maple syrup ,cream or whatever you fancy .
Toasted sandwiches, lots of options for fillings ,serve with soup ,Heinz 5 beans ,spaghetti hoops or similar.

BackwardsGoing · 19/06/2019 22:16

Try to avoid fast burning carbs because they will give you those crashing sugar lows and "starving" feeling.

Boiled eggs, cheese on wholemeal toast, Greek yoghurts, sausages (precook and eat cold), fried mushrooms with avocado on wholemeal toast, baked beans. Batch cook Bolognese, freeze in mini portions and eat with grated cheese on top.

Difficult with a small baby but try to eat before you get so hungry you can't think!

Also, as others have said, lots of water. If it gets boring fruit tea is also good.

Stillmonday · 19/06/2019 23:01

@Love51 Not trying to lose weight as I'm back to pre pregnancy weight without even trying.

Peanut butter is a good one. Celery sticks are like fresh air so won't be bothering with those 😂

Hmm some good suggestions, I'll look at protein stuff but I've got no chance if doing any homemade with a baby on one arm 😊

If you like peanut butter then try it dipped on apple slices - great snack and quite filling .(know that it's fruit territory but the peanut butter does change it!)

DeRigueurMortis · 19/06/2019 23:23

Oh yes - peanut butter and apple - food of the gods!!!m

Porridge for breakfast- a big bowl with your choice of lashings of fruit/cream/syrup...

greenlynx · 19/06/2019 23:39

Cottage cheese ( full fat) or pita bread with avocado and hummous.
I mainly had tea with cheese or fruit scones while breastfeeding, found it very quick and filling.

Leeds2 · 19/06/2019 23:44

Chicken drumsticks.
Mini quiches, or samosas, from the deli counter.
Scotch eggs.

Stefoscope · 20/06/2019 00:00

Ryvitas? You could stock up on a few different sweet and savoury toppings to mix things up. Peanut butter with banana is nice and filling.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 20/06/2019 06:02

Banana and peanut butter sandwich
peanut butter and honey sandwich
air-popped popcorn sprinkled with parmesan cheese

bananasaidso · 20/06/2019 10:22

Be careful how much you eat right now. I lost all the weight when I was Bfing and always starving. As soon I stopped nursing all the weight crept up on me and now I am 15 Kg heavier Sad

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/06/2019 14:11

Fry some sliced halloumi, have alone or with apple/tomato/cucumber.

Shove a chicken in the oven to roast and have it cold just to pick at, or put in a sandwich/have with salad/jacket potato.
