Hi,

My son loves looking at books with me and we have lots of books at home (we also visit the library) I feel like we’ve done all the ‘classics’ and he’s been asking for something new to read. Any recommendations for what your child likes/liked at that age?

Thanks in advance

the national geographic level 1 books went down well with my dc (they are also 3). I read to them, but if you think your dc is up to it you can read a page and then they can read a sentence.

they also liked listening to daniel tiger 5 minute stories.

all the best x

My son loves the Pip And Posy books - two friends who have typical toddler fights and meltdowns!

Tom fletcher books are brilliant. Hairy Maclairy & Slinki Malinki, The Pirates Next Door, actually anything with pirates or dinosaurs.. My DS2 also loves the early reader type books with classic fairy tales that he can't read himself yet but likes me to read (although I hate them). Mr Men too.

The Pirates Next Door by Johnny Duddle.
Dr. Seuss.
The Blue Kangaroo series by Emily Chichester Clark
Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, Jeremy Fisher by Beatrix Potter

Everything Julia Donaldson

My two both really enjoy the Usborne 'Look Inside' series, factual books with cartoon pictures & lift the flaps.

Also the little Thomas the Tank Engine books are firm favourites.

Great ideas so far thank you!

We have all Julia Donaldson and have done Peter rabbit, some mr men and pip and posey. He loves all of those ones.

The others I have not heard of/tried so I’ll definitely look into them! He can’t read yet, but is getting the basic phonics m/letter sounds and he loves asking me what the letters/words are.

We like penguin blue (blown away / sunk), Odd Dog Out, Charlie & Lola, Alfie and Annie Rose, Izzie Gizmo, Aunt Amelia, The Something, the peek inside books, Bob the Man on the Moon, Nanette's Bagette (might need to be slightly older - it's my favourite).
