How long did it take you to lose three stone?

I weighed myself today for the first time in ages. 12 stone 4 and I'm 5'5 Sad it's the biggest I've ever been, and entirely my own fault. Too much cake.

I'm lightly active, don't have a huge amount of time to to do exercise classes, it's diet. I eat healthily, but I eat too much, and I have a sweet tooth. Too many carbs too.

I have a family party at the end of July, it's quite a big thing, and I'd absolutely love to be a size 12 by them.. Currently I'm a 14. Obviously I know I won't lose three stone by then, but a stone perhaps? I have no idea, I've never had to lose weight properly before. I feel that if I had a rough sense of how long it will all take it would be easier to stick to

@Steamedpud no-s is no snacks, no seconds, no sweets except sometimes on days beginning with s.

It's more about habits than restricting your food intake, and it led me to naturally make more healthy and nutritious choices.

I struggle to lose as no matter if I eat huge amounts or practically starve my weight stays static. However I have had success with carb cycling and the theories behind it seem very solid if you hang onto weight hormonally like I do

I lost 2.5 stone in 5 months, not following any particular diet, but just being more aware of what I was eating, and not eating for the sake of it (I'd gotten into the habit of eating chocolate in front of the TV when the kids were in bed). I've been away for just over a week and I think I've put a bit of weight back on (I have NOT been being aware of what I'm eating here and have consumed many cakes - oops!);;

I have lost 9lbs in 5 weeks doing SW. To be fair I don't stick to it religiously, don't always have loads of salad/veg if the meal doesn't warrant it and have days off.

I suppose I eat well 6 days a week. Have a takeaway one day (but chicken tikka rather than a curry). Rest of the time it's home cooked food. Nothing is off limits apart from heavily processed food like ready meals or readymade sauces. I never really snack, don't eat a lot of bread (maybe once or twice a week and always wholemeal). I still use oil to cook with. I don't measure milk or cheese, but only have it in hot drinks or occasionally cereal, only have cheese once a week on an omelette usually.

I don't have a particular sweet tooth, might have a pudding once a week. Not bothered about chocolate.

I am only fat because I drink too much, so have really really cut down alcohol and that makes a massive difference.

Mines coming off slowly and steadily and feel maintainable. Have lost more in the past but it always came back in. My plan this time is slow and steady, I get weighed once a fortnight at SW not once a week and am hoping it stays off permanently even if it means weighing in forever to keep me honest.

I need to be held accountable.

It took me about 6 months but I was totally dedicated. I used slim fast for breakfast and lunch and then had a normal sensible meal, I had fruit or healthy snack mid morning and mid afternoon and drank plenty of water. I cut alcohol down to once a week and swapped beer /wine for vodka or gin. And I walked (fast) as much as I could, twice a day for twenty mins ideally. I would use slim fast again I think, it just made it simpler in my head, as I was working long hours I didn't have to plan and make healthy breakfast and lunches. When people asked me about how I was losing the weight and I told them, a few tried doing it too but most couldn't get their head around not eating actual food for most of the day, so it's definitely not for everyone!

The my fitness pal app is your friend here.

And weigh your food for portion sizes.
It only takes a few days to shrink your stomach down a bit, not long really.

For the sake of clarity, can I just point out that low carb diets (including Bootcamp) do not demonise a whole food group. A good low carb diet still includes carbs, in the form of vegetables, salad and some fruit.

All that low carbers are doing is 're-arranging' the proportion of the macronutrients that they eat. So instead of being high carb/medium protein/low fat, it becomes high fat/medium protein/low carb.

What's the problem with that?

I’ve lost 2 stone since May 8 th on blood sugar diet . I’m hope to lose another stone by end of July.
Read the research, fast weight loss is very very motivating, and with the lovely people on The BSD / fast diet thread here it’s easy to stick to.

Good luck with it op.
