What did you eat during pregnancy?

Posting here for traffic.

I'm 10 weeks and have been sick for 5 weeks. Keep getting asked what I feel like eating. I've gone off everything I'd normally eat and struggling to find things I want to eat.

So can you tell me, what did you crave or eat a lot of? Maybe it will tickle my fancy and I can finally eat something that doesn't make my stomach turn --grasping at straws.

Salty stuff gave me a horrible aftertaste so I had to have chewing gum (or later gaviscon did the same thing) to take it away

12 weeks here 🙋🏽‍♀️ have felt grossly sick for the last 6 weeks, have lived off ready salted crisps and toasted bagels, just starting to get back into eating actual food now and am finding fault plain savoury the best option for me. Anything saucy is still out and sweet still doesn't settle well

Oh and slot of ginger ale!

Jaffa cakes, special k with whole milk, cottage cheese, those little creme caramel desserts, whole lemons. I had debilitating nausea and would only be able to think of one or two things every day that I’d be able to eat without throwing up. The above list are the ones that stand out for lasting a week or more each, but some days I’d feel awful, think “ooh I really fancy an egg sandwich”, would manage to get hold of one, would eat it, and then never fancy it again and felt sick at the thought.

Liquorice allsorts. Could not get enough.

Sorry to hijack the thread op but wondered if there's any correlation (those who've had multiple pregnancies) in the level of a sickness/nausea to babys sex. I was not sick at all with DS but very nauseous this time around and wonder if it will be a girl.

Pinkmouse6 · 16/06/2019 19:04

All I could stomach during the first trimester (and half of the second trimester tbf) was bread (so lots of plain toast), chips, jacket potatoes with butter, cheese paninis, rice crispies and ready salted crisps. Boring as fuck and also extremely unhealthy...

Rice crispies were actually my favourite at one point, I’d eat about six bowls.

Pinkmouse6 · 16/06/2019 19:06

Opposite for me with the sex btw. Had no nausea whatsoever with my DD’s, absolute dream pregnancies but was chronically nauseous for the first 20 weeks with my DS’s...

RockNRollNerd · 16/06/2019 19:10

Fizzy cola bottles
Rice or occasionally on a good day sushi, both with soy sauce
Coca Cola

Threw up constantly for the first 5 months, had two good weeks, then my hips went and I started throwing up again a week or so before DS due date (that time ended up in hospital on a drip).

Also, there is a special place in hell reserved for anyone who ever tells a pregnant woman to just have a ginger biscuit and they'll feel better Grin.

For 6 sick weeks I ate pretty much nothing apart from pringles, grapes and yoghurt.

HearMeSnore · 16/06/2019 19:20

I found sharp, sour flavours took the edge off my nausea. So I put vinegar on everything (even toast), ate lots of citrus fruit, drank lots of cranberry juice or water with a squirt of lemon juice, and scoffed my body weight in Haribo Tangfastic.

Later in the pregnancy the nausea subsided but I still really enjoyed sharp flavours, completely went off tea and fizzy drinks, but had a strong craving for nasty, salty processed meat. Tinned ham, corned beef and Fray Bentos Pies were like the nectar of the gods.

It was during the horsemeat scandal. I shudder to think how many ponies I must have eaten.

Flaming hot monster munch and sausages

graziemille567 · 16/06/2019 19:27

I didn't get massive cravings or turned off lots of food, but I did find myself eating an incredible amount of oranges, Coco Pops, and I had broccoli with pretty much every dinner. In my head I felt that oranges and broccoli were the healthiest foods so I ate them every day for pretty much 9 months straight. And I hate milk as it is, so had to have it with Coco Pops to up my dairy intake!

MyBabyBoyBlue · 16/06/2019 20:06

Another vote for crumpets here. I had hyperemesis and after a few times eating anything I went off it. First 16 weeks were the worst and I went through crumpets, plain pasta, salted tortilla chips, toast, bagels, tuna mayo toasties, roast potatoes, cheese sandwiches (that craving continued until DS was born). I couldn't really drink so relied on orange calippos and the R. White lemonade ice lollies, sometimes ice cubes. I couldn't stomach meat for the whole pregnancy and a couple of days after I had DS all I wanted was fried chicken and burgers!!

DuggeesWoggle · 17/06/2019 07:24

I would dearly love a crumpet right now - well toasted, dripping with butter and marmite..

Gestational diabetes sucks Sad
