What did you eat during pregnancy?

Posting here for traffic.

I'm 10 weeks and have been sick for 5 weeks. Keep getting asked what I feel like eating. I've gone off everything I'd normally eat and struggling to find things I want to eat.

So can you tell me, what did you crave or eat a lot of? Maybe it will tickle my fancy and I can finally eat something that doesn't make my stomach turn --grasping at straws.

My first pregnancy i wasn't sick at all so just 'carried on as normal'. This one however Envy

I can manage only beige food. Cheese and salad cream white rolls, hula hoops, cereal and chips. The odd banana. Lots of fybogel. Nice and balanced Confused I'm hoping it passes soon!

Biancadelrioisback · 15/06/2019 08:04

Pasta and cheese. That was it.

Mac47 · 15/06/2019 09:34

Cheese sandwiches on white bread and opal fruits. For weeks, nothing else. Then a few months of normal eating, followed by the last 8 weeks or so where my heartburn was so bad, my main food group was gaviscon.

Salad and other raw veg was horrendous. But that’s probably not a bad thing as most outbreaks of listeriosis in recent years have come from inadequately washed raw veg

CakeNinja · 15/06/2019 09:39

Ice lollies (the rowntrees fruit pastille ones). Cucumber. Ice.
Basically refreshing watery food!
I wasn’t ever sick but was nauseous for about 6 months every time I was pregnant.
And it almost always staved off my craving for chalky dishwasher tablets Confused

suckonthatmaureen · 15/06/2019 09:45

Bland, carb heavy, salty shite.
And burgers, it was the slightly sweet buns and processed cheese. Confused
Also lemon sparkling water.

My 30th Birthday meal at 34 weeks was a slice of pizza, followed by a bottle of gaviscon.

I lost about a stone during my last pregnancy, and had a 9.12lb baby.

suckonthatmaureen · 15/06/2019 09:46

Also....

Weirdly when I was pregnant with DD1 I was obsessed with tropical scents. According to my DH the house smelt like a pina colada.

MsSquiz · 15/06/2019 09:48

I'm 12+4 and have had nausea since around 5 weeks!
I've lived on:
Mashed potato
Toast
Lucozade sport made into ice lollies
Ice pops
Ready salted pringles
Plain gnocchi
Plain pasta
Jacket potatoes with Philadelphia (on a good day)
Digestive biscuits

From week 4 to week 8 I lived on fizzy water, then one day I couldn't stomach it at all, so now it's decaf tea, plain water or water with a tiny drop of cordial/squash

Pillowcase99 · 15/06/2019 09:48

Beige carbs. White bread, marmite, crackers, nothing remotely good for me! Just keep taking your vitamins and eat whatever you can stomach. And ignore FIL he doesn't know what you're going through!

saywhatwhatnow · 15/06/2019 09:55

Oh yes sparkling water with a tiny bit of lime cordial! With ice! Mmmmm yum

chazm84 · 15/06/2019 10:16

Tinned pears in juice (not syrup). Hubby always got excited to see them
In the cupboard and couldn't understand where the six tins disappeared to in 24 hours. They were the only thing I could reliably keep down for months.

ImogenTubbs · 15/06/2019 10:39

Carbs (bread, cake, potatoes), cream of tomato soup, San pellegrino fruit drinks.

whatliketoeat · 15/06/2019 10:40

I've found my people. Every one of my friends said they felt normal and ate whatever.

Today I had some tinned peaches, some crisps and a bagel. I am like pp that feels sick all the time but feels worse when I don't eat, but feels sick with food. I also have this nasty metallic taste in my mouth.

That was what mine was like- nauseous when hungry, nauseous when I ate... couldn't win. Bloody awful and right the way through the whole pregnancy.
Fingers crossed for you that yours settles down as you progress!

happypotamus · 15/06/2019 13:17

One specific expensive brand of ready salted crisps that doesn't exist anymore and chips and fruit gums. I felt sick, didn't want to eat anything but was working 13hr shifts.

Grumpbum123 · 15/06/2019 13:18

Crisps and Haribo

LaDameAuxLicornes · 15/06/2019 13:23

Cheese toasties
Pasta with butter and grated cheese
Hot cross buns
Salt and vinegar Pringles
Plain-ish chicken and rice
Basically white carbs and misery! I usually eat loads of vegetables when not pregnant, so first trimester came as quite the shock.

Minai · 15/06/2019 13:26

All I could eat was kid food, chicken nuggets, potato waffles, beans etc. Anything else would make me sick

whatswithtodaytoday · 15/06/2019 13:32

I genuinely felt like anything green would harm me - couldn't face salad or green veg at all. I'm not keen on salad normally but I love veg, especially broccoli, so that was weird.

I was only sick every two or three days, but I was hideously sensitive to smells so any slightly unpleasant or strony smell made me gag. The kitchen bin lived outside for months, and I couldn't stand the smell of our airing cupboard which we have now discovered has a small water leak. All very odd!

notso · 15/06/2019 20:58

With DC1 I lived on bread cakes had to be fresh that day, thickly buttered with tuna and salt on but no mayo and plain crisps. I didn't know at the time it wasn't advised to eat so much tuna Blush poor DD. Craved tuna so badly and watermelon but am allergic so just used to smell it!!
I was sick after every single meal from about 6 weeks until 26 weeks then again from 36 weeks but never really felt sick.
DC2 golden delicious apples, ice and iron bru. I kept getting told off by the midwife drinking the iron bru I'd never drink it before or since!!
DC3 barely anything, every food made me heave as did most smells and just the feeling of food in my mouth. From day one until the day he was born I was constantly nauseous, I lost my voice from heaving all the time! Salty buttery mashed potato and leek and potato soup were just about bareable and cinnamon cereal dry.
DC4 was able to eat perfectly normally, no cravings or anything. I didn't really feel pregnant with DC4 none of the aches and pains or heartburn.

ElizaPancakes · 15/06/2019 21:04

Basically nothing apart from orange ice lollies and the occasional steak.

I was never sick but I felt nauseous all the time and lost loads of weight. Luckily I could afford to!

ButterflyBitch · 15/06/2019 21:07

I couldn’t eat much in my first pregnancy because of sickness. Jacket potato. Salt and vinegar crisps and apples (though these do burn if they come back up!)
And I couldn’t eat fuck all in my second pregnancy due to hyperemesis. Can’t even remember what I did manage I was so wiped out.

Kiwiinkits · 15/06/2019 21:15

Just make sure you take folic acid supplements and get a good amount of magnesium, omega 3 and 6.
Other than that, your body will find a way to get what it needs from what you eat.

I used to walk to the bakery every day for raspberry buns when pg Blush

00100001 · 15/06/2019 21:18

god, i could only eat crappy carbs. ate a loooot of white toast in those first 12 weeks or so.

anything greasy like bacon (just the smell!) or melted cheese made me really nauseous.

00100001 · 15/06/2019 21:19

oh! and salty food too. i had loads of toast and marmite, salted crisps, extra salt on chips... told you, crappy carbs
