Names for comforter

heartlanddrive · 12/06/2019 21:47

My 14week old DS has grown fond of a comfort blanket which he uses to go to sleep with. It's a cuski comforter, so not an animal or anything which would probably be easier to name! At the moment, it has lots of names... comforter, rag, cloth, thingy...
Does anyone have any permanent name suggestions? Or have any children with comfort blankets that had special names?
TIA

Muslin squares - all called Zizzy. A bastardisation of muzzy.
She has 3 every night. They all have names.

Whatever you call it, be sure to get at least one more, in case it gets lost or worn to a manky rag. And alternate them from early on, so that they feel and smell the same.

One of my dds was very attached to a cot blanket with a satin edge. I cut it into quarters, which worked well for a long time, but we still eventually ended up with just one satin edge and half an inch of frayed remains of the blanket!

DS has always slept snuggling a muslin cloth and he named it his cosy.

My kids had "Blankie" and still do, even if they don't really need them anymore!

OP, please if you can, get a spare one! And wash them regularly so that they don't get to tell the difference. There is nothing worse than your child losing his/her Blankie and you having no alternative to offer!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 14/06/2019 15:20

Oh sorry I missed your update where you say you have a spare! Well done Grin

Mine had a bun-bun.

I had a fo, and then a snuffy.

My daughter named hers baggy, no idea why, maybe its as she was learning to talk. She has a small muslin square which thankfully i get loads of cheap on ebay so as they get lost they are easily replaced

Cwtchie blanket for us. We have two that DS2 had from birth.
Manky bunny for DS1 as the cloth bunny has seen a lot of love over the years.

Mine was sookie blanket too (my mum is Scottish, I'm guessing that's why from PPs)
DS still has a very saggy smelly lion. It's called Lion. DD3 has an Aldi evil parsnip. It's called Nanip (she is 15m)

In our family it was always the satin ribbon round their baby blankets which they loved. Now babies sleep uncovered they get attached to muslins or the silky labels in their clothes. They’re all called Cuddlies.

@CatsMother66 awww that is so sweet! But wow! What a collection! Hoping we don't end up with as many as that though 😅

@kimlo I know they are odd looking, we have had comments saying couldn't we have chosen something cuter. But I liked that they are breathable and that it's easy to buy more if needed. We are currently alternating between two cream ones! hoping we don't need to stretch to ten but then again one in every room + spares sounds a lot less stressful! Grin

Ds calls his blanket 'Babby'. We are from (near) Birmingham where people actually call their children Babby (ie. have you fed the Babby?) so it sounds, especially with his/my strong Birmingham accent, like an intentional choice. It wasn't.

We pronounce it Babb-oi in true brummy style Grin

kimlo · 14/06/2019 19:35

they soon add up,
1 at nursery
1 at the childminders
1 in the cot
1in her hand
the others dotted around the house or in the wash.

Plus we didn't stick to the same colour. She knew there was more than one.

I still have some dotted around the house, I can't quite bare to part with them, even though she's now 10.

jigsawmaniac · 14/06/2019 19:42

My wee boy's is just called Blankie. He's 4 now and had him since tiny and still takes him to bed!

heartlanddrive · 14/06/2019 20:03

@kimlo that's a great idea to get different colours! And your DD didn't ever prefer one colour over the rest? Knowing my luck I'll buy an array of different colours and he will develop a liking to a specific one! 😆

no she didn't have a prefrence, when she was older she liked to pick which one she was going to have that day.
