I just need to moan about thrush

I have the nastiest case of thrush at the moment. Obviously this is TMI and all that so I do apologise.

Constant itching, burning and general misery. I hate it so fucking much.

I've bought a pessary and cream combo thing (love shelling out £13 that I don't have to treat thrush) and have some natural yoghurt in the fridge Hmm Trying to avoid sugar but I bloody love the stuff.

Anything else I should be doing...? Or anyone want to share in the misery?

If you have a sexual partner treat them too.

LoafofSellotape · 10/06/2019 14:25

Ideally you need a three day course of pessaries and cream so I'd go to the GP if you can.

No fabric softener or strong detergent.

No shower gels or a scented soaps.

Use very basic sanitary towels ,none with plastic or perfume.

Your partner needs to be treated too.

Tampon dipped in live youghurt is good, also taking acidophilus capsules.

Blobby10 · 10/06/2019 15:51

Be gentle with your bits when washing! I got what I thought was recurring thrush and it turned out that the vigorous rubbing with soap and harsh jet on the shower were too much for mine! once I stopped doing that, it all settled down but does flair up if I used shower gel instead of bar soap.

I buy the oral tablets online, it’s so much cheaper than buying it in Boots and is more effective for than pessaries.

Hairyheadphones · 10/06/2019 15:57

here

badguys · 10/06/2019 16:18

Thanks all. Such misery. I wish it would just FUCK. OFF.

I've heard conflicting things about the pessary vs tablets...if the pessary doesn't work (please god let it work Angry) then I'll try the tablets.

My knickers are all on a boil wash, along with towels, as we speak. Oh the glamour.

I used to suffer dreadfully,I had to have a week off work once and went to the GP in tears as I was in such a state but I haven't had it since taking acidophilus capsules, even when I've had anti biotics. Really worth trying.

GlassSuppers · 10/06/2019 16:40

I used to suffer too.

I found that my bits were getting too hot in the night and it was stopping me getting rid of it Blush I sleep in a nightee now with no knickers and I haven't had it since.

ShopoholicIn · 10/06/2019 16:44

Try and avoid tights, leggins or jeans.. i used to wear skirts or maxi dress without knickers.
If you are into sports once u have exercised try n take a shower soon.

ShopoholicIn · 10/06/2019 16:45

Shower soon* i mean rather than delaying it

badguys · 10/06/2019 17:04

Thanks for the replies and advice, my itchy fanjo and I really are grateful.

I will look into those capsules.

I do wear skinny jeans but have never suffered like this before. Wearing floaty things / no knickers brings me out on a cold sweat as I spend most of my days running around after my DS (3) who has ASD and can be slightly...lively Grin

When I got it really bad the only thing that worked after going through every option was the cream in a syringe that you push in like a pessary. I think only caniston does it. Also make sure you get climitrase in 2% to alleviate the symptoms.
Makes me cross we have to pay so much for the treatments.

Bodicea · 10/06/2019 17:09

Climitrazole!
Also wash all your knickers at 60, the ones that can take it at 90.

Bodicea · 10/06/2019 17:10

Sorry just saw you were already on the boil wash!

Fairylea · 10/06/2019 17:12

I have autoimmune conditions and suffer with persistent thrush - both oral and vaginal and it was making my life a misery. I know this is going to sound like I work for them but I promise I don’t but I started to have 2 Actimel yoghurt drinks everyday and I haven’t had thrush since. It’s been totally life changing for me... I know how dramatic that sounds but it was so horrid!

BrassicaBabe · 10/06/2019 17:13

You might not want to head this so I'll just share my personal experience Grin

I've been following a low carb diet since September 2017. I've not had a single thrush occurrence since

(I understand your pain and frustration)

badguys · 10/06/2019 19:06

Low carb is a no go for me, for no other reason that I'm a greedy fucker who loves sugar. But not thrush Envy

OP posts:
EarClipper · 10/06/2019 19:09

Tbh that's exactly why low carb would be ideal for you! Grin

Dragongirl10 · 10/06/2019 19:15

There is a long term solution, its the food supplement accidophillus, buy in Holland and Barrett or similar. Make sure it actually is pure accidophillus, keep in fridge and drink with a sip of milk, twice a day.

It works by rebalancing your entire gut/bowel bacterior and is a permanent solution...to speed up recovery, drink gallons of water, avoid all sugar, no knickers and skirt at home..(or out if brave) Sit frequently in icy baths if really brave.

Ditch tights for good too.

Take it for ever but you can drop down to once a day.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 10/06/2019 19:28

My doctor told me that you can use a couple of the pessarys if needed. If it is taking its time

diaduittoyou · 10/06/2019 19:34

Don't use scented shower gels, soaps, feminine washes etc! All a recipe for disaster Sad

badguys · 10/06/2019 20:50

Arghhhhhhhhh it's getting worse in the evening Sad I've taken some Piriton.

I'm very careful with soaps / shower gels. I don't use them on my bits. Which is why this is so bloody annoying.

I'm going to order some of those probiotic things, thank you for the recommendation.

BG2015 · 10/06/2019 22:09

I used to get recurring thrush, I got in 8/9 times a year. It was awful.

I split with my DP of 6 years and a few months later met someone new. After using condoms for a while and being tested (as you do) I had a coil fitted and ditched the condoms.

I've been with my current partner for nearly 5 years and I've only had thrush about 4 times in that time. I'm convinced my ex DP was reinfecting me with it.

LoafofSellotape · 10/06/2019 22:15

Use an ice pack if it's unbearable.

GreenDragon75 · 11/06/2019 06:59

I found pro biotic yoghurt drinks helped a lot. I used to get it every month just before my period but having pro biotics every day seemed to stop it.
Go to the GPs as well as it should have started to ease by now.
