Fuck an almighty duck, what an appalling breach of trust!!

NO WAY should he have let her into your home AT ALL, never mind the rest. Doesn't make a flying bit of difference that he's related to her - it's totally unprofessional.

And she's posted it all over FB!! FUcking hell.

I think you can report the photos directly to FB and get them taken down - worth a try anyway.

And he needs to be sorted out good and proper with his attitude! Definitely take it further, if you can, because that's a ridiculous way to behave and expect to get away with it.

Haven't read all the replies so apologies if this has been said already.

You should give yourself a few hours/a day to get over your initial anger, my mom use to say if it's still on your mind the next day then do something about it.

I'd avoid talking to the lady (I assume the p&d has already told her about your reaction) go straight through Facebook and report it.

If you are still shocked/angry about it say come tomorrow definetly leave a review about your privacy being invaded, but keep it very constructive and mature.

I'm struggling to understand her reasons for posting pictures of another person's house on her social media.

Why did she do that? Confused

Borntobeamum · 10/06/2019 13:14

Jeeeeeez I'm livid on your behalf!!!

acatcalledjohn · 10/06/2019 13:22

I'm inclined to agree with the PP mentioning a GDPR breach. OP, you say there is personal stuff in the photos. This would make you identifiable.

I would report the P&D, as well as CFGQB (cheeky fucking gossip queen bee) for a GDPR breach before asking FB to remove the images (proof and all that). I would also report the P&D to checkatrade for inviting people in to your home without your explicit permission. The fact she is his family member is irrelevant.

FlatPackPat · 10/06/2019 13:25

Shock that is awful OP! Some really good advice here from PPs but just adding my 'wtfery' to the chorus.

myhamster · 10/06/2019 13:29

I was thinking that it wasn't a GDPR breach, however thinking about it again, if P&D told the family member OP's address then I suppose that would be a breach of data.

But workman do take photos of their craft as kind of an online portfolio to advertise their work

Every single one of them who have done this in my home have first asked me for permission. As is only polite. As for letting strangers into someone else's home, there may be a different kind of category for tradespeople who behave like this. And 'honest' and 'reputable' don't feature among it.

No point at all in flying into a rage and confronting such people. There may be something - or nothing - you can do beyond writing a scathing review. But first, check legally as to whether this falls under the category of a GPDR breach. I'd also seek the advice of trading standards.

Isatis · 10/06/2019 13:34

Have you now left reviews on Checkatrade and elsewhere?

FurCoatNoSnickers · 10/06/2019 14:05

Just to recap at NO point sis he ask I’d he could take before and after photos - at NO point did he say he’d like to bring someone in to see my home. I might have said yes if it was pre-arranged and I was there.

Update (sorry for delay)

Photos have been taken down-confirmed by two friends now who have access to the Lady’s Facebook pages.

I did nothing.
My friend who’s QBs acquaintance and sent me the screen shot called her out on the photos usage and it was taken down almost immediately

I also text the painter and decorator telling him I was seeking professional advice on how to proceed regarding the matter and have heard nothing- he’s gone mute (very unlike him)

I’m hoping that the photos won’t resurface and still feeling raw. Hoping there won’t be any nasty fall out

Thanks all for your advice- really helpful.

Bloody hell fur you handled it better than me, I would have sacked them on the spot

Soola · 10/06/2019 15:46

I’m glad the photos have been taken down and well done to your chum for calling the woman out.

I think we nearly all have been utterly appalled by this and hope that gives you support in your feeling upset and annoyed by this.

I can be vindictive and vengeful which I have to curb as I know they aren’t nice traits but this would have really pushed me to my limit.

FurCoatNoSnickers · 10/06/2019 19:47

Thanks Soola- you sound great Grin

I totally agree with you action. How dare he!!

Leave the review - short and honest. Nobody wants this sort of thing in their home.

justilou1 · 11/06/2019 01:35

I would still establish some VERY clear guidelines with him that NOBODY enters your premises without your permission, and NOBODY takes or shares photos.
