What percentage of your salary is your mortgage and how old are you?

We’re mortgage free at 50 and looking at getting a mortgage that would take ten years to pay off at 30% of our take home pay. No other debts though and minimal other outgoings.

39% age 31
It’s a lot and it worries me at times, but currently working part time due to my young DC. As they get older and I work more hopefully it will reduce to a more reasonable percentage.
DH is doing well in his career and hopefully the next promotion for him isn’t too far away. That pay rise will make a huge difference to us too

Paid off mortgage 3 years ago and it was 1/4 of joint net home pay (I was 44 when we paid it off).
