But how do I heat up say, leftovers? Any non microwave users that could give me some tips? Also, jacket potatoes which my children like, will take forever! Thanks

Microwave saves lots of washing up /space in the dishwasher. I put porridge oats in a bowl, cover with milk, then 2 minutes in the microwave while I get breakfast for the kids. No worries about burning nor needing to stir.
You can make a shelf for a microwave so it's just below kitchen cupboards, if counter space is scarce. For a while mine was on top of the dryer on top of the washing machine.
I counted once and mine gets used about 10 times a day. I could cope without but why would I?

It takes two minutes to make porridge in a pan on the stove ffs

The enamel has chipped off my microwave a bit, exposing some metal inside? Do I need to bin it before I get radiation sickness?

Indeed it does, but the saucepan is a bitch to clean, as opposed to a bowl used in a microwave.

I've never had one, heat left overs in oven or on job, or I take to work and use their microwave.
