Hello everyone,

Some of you may already be signed up to our Swears By email, or may even check the recommendations on the Swears By page instead.

But, for those who don't know, Mumsnet Swears By is a handy weekly digest of products and tips from Mumsnetter to Mumsnetter - whether that's the foot cream which finally sorted their dry, cracked heels, or the best way to stock the food cupboard so you can actually reach everything (yes, even those tinned tomatoes on the top shelf).

We are continually on the lookout for new, life-changing tips, tricks and products that Mumsnetters are shouting about - and we want to hear from you.

So far, Swears By has always been pretty product-heavy, but we're really keen to hear about other types of solutions you've come across on Mumsnet which we may have missed. Whether that's a service someone recommended which you now couldn't live without, or a life hack tip-off which saves you hours every single week. We'd also love to know which of our talk boards have proved invaluable to you over the years for exactly this kind of information.

We're looking forward to reading through your pearls of wisdom - TIA Grin

If you're interested in having a look at our Swears By email, you can see the latest edition here - and you can sign up here

Bedding in pillowcase
Marie Kondo (we decluttered and didn’t have to move and re mortage!)
Babyliss Big Hair (game changer for my thick frizzy hair)
ELDW
Loads, and I mean LOADS of fantastic clothes purchasers
Getting my colours done (and as a result changing hair colour and looking years younger!)
Making an effort to look ‘done’ and setting time aside for myself even when I was hallucinating from tiredness and lack of sleep because of DD

That putting Bisto instant gravy in the microwave for 1 minute after you added the water to it, makes it much thicker and proper gravy like.

That emotional abuse exists, and is just as valid a reason to leave someone as physical abuse. Just cos he doesn't hit you, doesn't make him a great guy.

Scissors to cut pizza.

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 10/06/2019 23:20

I learnt all about the women's rights battle this is going on in this country at the moment. I got involved with political activism which I have never been involved with previously.

Yogatoga09 · 13/06/2019 15:26

Yoga With Adriene. It’s been completely life changing for me. Thanks mumsnet!

EssexGurl · 13/06/2019 16:05

How to go to the loo in a swimming costume - just pull to the side, not take down. Mind-blown. Now go to my swim session with swimsuit under dress. Rush to the loo and quick wee, take off dress in the loo, in the pool in seconds. Now I get a full hours swimming rather than faffing around getting changed.

KneelJustKneel · 13/06/2019 16:09

That some people wipe standing up Shock
That some people do their bra up at the front and twizzle.
That some people wash towels every time they use them.

quaverflavour · 13/06/2019 16:11

That putting straight washing up liquid on greasy pans (I use a damp pastry brush to paint it on) gets off the grease far better than leaving them to soak.

SecretWitch · 13/06/2019 16:15

I learned about maladaptive day dreaming.

So glad to know there are others in the same situation

PurpleCrazyHorse · 13/06/2019 16:19

@PrincessMargaret I'm going to try the gravy trick, that could so be a game changer!

Wonders if my MIL is on MN after seeing her cut pizza with scissors Shock Gin

SpamChaudFroid · 13/06/2019 16:25

To question living under a patriarchy, I had honestly just accepted it as the way things were, complete with internalised misogyny. As unbelievable as that sounds to me now.

Thanks FWR boards, you rock!

MN taught me about feminism and the importance of defending our sex-based rights. THANK YOU FWR!

NewbieSpartacus · 13/06/2019 19:54

The feminism threads saved my life/sanity when the trans train hit my family. Led to other groups, support and information that have made the last 3 years tolerable. I can't express my gratitude to you all.
As well as 'no is a complete sentence'. It says everything about the need for feminism still, that some of us are still learning this.
I couldn't give a fuck about sheets in pillowcases, though.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 13/06/2019 19:57

I couldn't give a fuck about sheets in pillowcases, though.

I find sheets in pillowcases quite useful. But nowhere near as useful as FWR.

NewbieSpartacus · 13/06/2019 19:58

I think MNHQ are looking for cute life hacks with paperclips and lemon juice. I hope they see the important, life-changing things that really matter too; look how many of us are interested in protecting sex based rights already in 2 pages. Keep supporting the important stuff MNHQ...

EmpressLesbianInChair · 13/06/2019 20:01

I hope things are better for your family now, NewbieSpartacus.

Bugger paper clips and lemon juice. FWR has led hordes of women to gender-critical feminism.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 13/06/2019 20:21

I've learned so much about abuse and coercive control and I'm more able to help a close friend who is escaping a horrific marriage and protecting her two children from a dad who abused them.

I echo pp with regard to the patriarchy/feminist/trans scales falling from my eyes.

And apple cider vinegar on verrucas.
