Is this ok to eat?

I took this cooked seafood mix out of the freezer on Saturday morning. It's for 3 year old DC and my pregnant self. Doesn't go out of date for ages if frozen, but doesn't say on the packet how many days you have once it's thawed.

No I wouldn't eat it. You're supposed to eat defrosted foods within 24 hours

CaptainBrickbeard · 05/06/2019 17:30

Don’t take any chances with seafood especially for a pregnant woman and young child. No way.

No no and no

Definitely not

ProfessorofPerspective · 05/06/2019 17:33

No, and I'm quite laid back!

LimpidPools · 05/06/2019 17:33

I usually eat everything, but even I wouldn't risk that. And especially not if I were pregnant or a toddler.

It's a shame and I'd be kicking myself, but in this case it's just not worth it.

Whiskyagogo · 05/06/2019 17:34

Definitely no.

I think the advice is defrost in a fridge and eat within 24 hours.

I hate wasting food but its not worth the risk.

Dinosforall · 05/06/2019 17:34

No way. And I am usually chilled out to the point of grim on this stuff.

magneticmumbles · 05/06/2019 17:35

Ok, I'll bin them. Thanks everyone!

Oh actually what about a packet of beef then? Got it out the same day.

OP posts:
AfterSchoolWorry · 05/06/2019 17:35

Wouldn't.

magneticmumbles · 05/06/2019 17:36

Said beef

Tbh, if it smells and looks ok, I probably would myself as I tend to have a stomach of iron. However, I wouldn't eat it if I was pregnant and I definitely wouldn't give it to my children. So in your circumstances, I'm afraid I'd advise to cut your loses and chuck it.

dementedpixie · 05/06/2019 17:37

No, as I said before, once defrosted you should cook and eat within 24 hours

magneticmumbles · 05/06/2019 17:37

Oh it's the 5th today, that's out of date too! Cheese on toast for dinner then!

OP posts:
floppybit · 05/06/2019 17:39

Out of interest, what meals do you make with the seafood selection?

dementedpixie · 05/06/2019 17:39

Why did you take them both out on Saturday?

Cherylshaw · 05/06/2019 17:43

I'm pretty laid back and I'm a maximum of 2 days once thawed

Boulezvous · 05/06/2019 17:44

I'd open it and do the smell test. Does it smell and look okay?

magneticmumbles · 05/06/2019 17:45

@dementedpixie we had a dinner party with a Teppanyaki grill. This was left over.

MoaningMinniee · 05/06/2019 17:47

I'd do the smell test for the beef if it was for just myself, but wouldn't risk it for Bump and toddler.

Also I LOVE cheese on toast!

CaptainBrickbeard · 05/06/2019 17:47

You can’t smell the bacteria that causes food poisoning. The smell test is not helpful here.

TheCrowFromBelow · 05/06/2019 17:47

If the beefs been in the fridge I’d probably use it but no way on the seafood

Cuppa12345 · 05/06/2019 17:50

I am also really relax and am always telling my other half it's fine... Even I wouldn't eat those. And that really is saying something haha

floppybit · 05/06/2019 17:52

Thanks magnetic, that linguini looks good!
