Co-sleeping. Safest way to stop the baby rolling out of bed?

Because he learned to roll and less than 48 hours later he rolled out of bed in the middle of the night. Despite me putting him in the middle of our super king size bed.

I got a pool noodle but its not quite the ticket. It moves and slips down.

I ordered - then cancelled - a bed guard because I distinctly remember my first DC falling down and sleeping between the bed guard and the bed. He was 18 months old and I'm lucky he didn't suffocate.

DS3 is only 5 months.

There's long bits of foam that go under the sheet but if he rolled over and face planted couldn't they suffocate him?

With DS2 I had the mattress on the floor but can't do that for a few months when we move because there's absolutely nowhere to store the bed.

What do I do?

I have my arm around ds and hand under his side, one leg up so he cant wriggle down too but I see that's not an option so I would go with the cot with no side probably, or mattress in the floor but that's a bit more drastic!

You can get wooden bed guards, but we ended up doing the 'sleep sideways' way of doing it so the baby was nearest the headboard.

@Itellpeopletogoogleit who said it was risky and dangerous? OP isn't asking for opinions on cosleeping so perhaps keep your helpful suggestions to yourself. Lucky you if you had a baby that would sleep in a cot. Many of us didn't.

Many options:

Push bed up against the wall, roll a spare duvet into a sausage and shove down the gap. If it slips down, wrap the sausage around some pillows? Then make sure it's level with the mattress.

Side sleeper cot which if he/she doesn't sleep in, then it's at least an extra space and barrier for him.

I've co slept with both mine with just pillows down the side of our super king. But I guess you have a prolific roller! Enjoy, it's fab.

DS Is 19 months and we co sleep. I've got a tutti bambini crib strapped to the bed, he's never slept in it 😩 so it's now a glorified bed guard. I also use my maternity pillow to wedge in the gap between my bed and bedside table.

This is what we do. The health visitor scared us into buying a 'next to me' crib. My 7 month old has never once slept in it, but it works as a good safety net if he rolls away from me in the night. It also works as the world's most overpriced bed side table 😂

I co sleep with my 3 month old with a side crib as they attach tightly to the bed so if he rolls he's only going in his crib
