Posted a thread of what were treats growing up to you, and it was a really nice thread, got me thinking what foods now can't you buy that you used to love? Here are some of mine..
Milky Bar Chews
Those plastic drinks with the funny lid you twisted of,
Panda pops
Frufoo yogurts

Micro noodles. They’ve only recently been discontinued.

grumpycatgrumpycat · 28/05/2019 11:20

Fuse bars

Oh, and Cadbury Crispy bars - kind of like a rice crispy cake bar

My life is very sad without these

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 28/05/2019 11:45

10 Calorie Soups. They sold them in Tescos (I think) in the 90s/00s. The onion was one lush. I lived on them!

DesignforLife · 28/05/2019 11:47

A few people have mentioned mushroom and wine pasta 'n' sauce. I also miss the smoky bacon flavour - used to love it when the sauce hadn't been properly mixed before microwaving and you'd end up with clumps of powdery, salty bacon flavour stuff stuck inside the pasta. I also used to add double the recommended amount of butter to the mushroom one. Lush!

Secret bars - I would love these to come back
Spira
Fuse bar
mavericks
Nova bars - nobody seems to remember these but it was a thick bed of chocolate with a sort of oaty/granola/honey and raisin topping. They came as two short bars like a bounty.
coconut boosts.
Thorntons Toffee Tempo bars
M&S extremely fudgy chocolate bars

Wheat crunchies
nice'n'spicy nik naks - I loved these so much I named my hamster NikNak.
spicy tomato wotsits
M&S used to us a potato-based snack called deltas - little salted triangles - they were gorgeous.
Worcestershire sauce twiglets (occasionally see these in home Bargains)

lemon polos
fruit polos
peach smints

Asda used to do am amazing pasta salad with smoked bacon, mayonnaise and cheese - many places offer something similar but none come close to the taste of this one.
M&S Chinese-style chicken drumsticks - they still make them but the recipe has changed. My mum used to buy a big tub of these and we'd have two each for lunch each day, usually served alongside the bacon pasta salad mentioned above!

Gini - a fizzy lemon drink
Tab Clear
Mountain Dew
Snapple
Fruitopia

Body shop peppermint foot cream
Toni and Guy curl taming shampoo and conditioner.

I wonder what our kids will miss in the future. Will they all be sitting around saying, "remember hummus? I wish they'd bring it back" Grin

MrsPnut · 28/05/2019 11:56

Boursin fig and nut cheese, not available in the UK now. I gorge on it when in France.

I remember loads of these, and like a pp, would like decent squash to make a comeback. I’m fed up of paying a fortune to have a decent lime or lemon squash that doesn’t have sweeteners in it.

Krieger · 28/05/2019 11:59

Lifebouy Soap

SinkGirl · 28/05/2019 12:12

Totally forgot - Gu salted caramel hot chocolate in a carton. It was so thick I had thin out with milk. It was amazing.

And cherry Bulmers - it was amazing, haven’t found a fruit cider I like since they stopped making it

anitagreen · 28/05/2019 12:44

@DesignforLife hey we can still get wheat crunchies and those nik naks in our Asda have you checked there?

Has anyone seen Ginzing? It came out with the first alcopops, about the same time as Hooch. It was amazing.

Pinkruler · 28/05/2019 12:55

Dorset cereals porridge oats with raspberries. Even emailed them to find out what they had done with it.

squishee · 28/05/2019 12:57

Lemon sandwich biscuits, rectangular shape, with salt on top.
I found something similar in Australia once (from Arnotts I think) but I can'f find anything like it in the UK anymore. Desperately seeking!

Great thread!

Raahh · 28/05/2019 13:02

As soon as I saw this thread, I came on to say phileas fogg snacks of yesteryear- I have never found anything that is remotely like the garlic mignon morceuax ( usually similar snacks are oniony) and their tortilla chips were proper hot chilli flavoured, not tomato/cheese like Doritos tend to be.

When they brought a new range in a few years back, I was so excited- but they didn't bring back the old flavours. Sad

Heyha · 28/05/2019 13:37

@designforlife I've lived off wheat crunchies during pregnancy, can deffo get them in multipacks in most supermarkets (only the bacon ones I think though).

One of my students brought fruit polos in last year and I nearly fell over myself asking him where he got them- local corner shop apparently. So they MUST exist somewhere but I've not yet found them.

thenightsky · 28/05/2019 14:39

garlic mignon morceaux

What a coincidence... me and DH were only talking about how much we missed them last night! They were so perfect with beer/lager. Sad

cheesenpickles · 28/05/2019 15:10

For all you Secret Bar lovers (I'm definitely one) apparently they'll never be remade as the cost to make them was huge, but also packaging them as they came with that cardboard is cost prohibitive. SadSadSad

Deathraystare · 28/05/2019 15:18

M&S did a lovely Onion tarte tatin which they no longer do.

Krieger - Lifebuoy was offered 2 for about £4.99 - I know! In one of those health pullouts in my tv magazine.

DesignforLife · 28/05/2019 15:21

Righto - definitely hitting Asda this week for a Wheat Crunchie hunt. I didn't really like the bacon flavour (surprisingly, given the way bacon dominated my original post). I think they did a worcestershire sauce flavour which was amazing.

hannonle · 28/05/2019 15:21

@moobaamoobaa I too miss wotsit waffles but find the large sharing bags of tesco cheese balls to be a half decent replacement. Give them a try.

hannonle · 28/05/2019 15:28

Safeways used to do a frozen, breadcrumbed, cheese and broccoli chicken Kiev that we would have all the time until they discontinued them.
And the Body Shop vineyard peach shower gel. Peachy and green leaves/grass. Lovely.

Gluetap · 28/05/2019 15:33

mrscee, were they cheese moments?

There’s a spud-u-like at West Quay, Southampton too.

Deathraystare · 28/05/2019 15:33

Barmouth biscuits - I think that was the name. Flat and golden. Beautiful! Cannot remember if they were a bit coconutty or not but my family loved them.

Starburst8 · 28/05/2019 15:41

@DesignforLife wheat crunchies are definitely available as a multi-pack at Asda (about £1) I've only seen bacon flavour though.
However I do know you can still buy Worcester sauce flavour ones cos I get them from my bus station shop - not much help for you really but at least there's hope.

Someone posted about Nik-Naks crisps they're still available too and again Asda do multi packs 😃

Some of the "American" foods that have been suggested are available down the world isle. Unfortunately they're more expensive than they used to be.

hannonle · 28/05/2019 15:54

I wish they would put the lemon oil capsule back in the powder sachets of lemon meringue pie filling boxes. It's not at all lemony without it.
Also, anyone else remember that milkshake powder that made a thick shake? It was lovely.

Butterymuffin · 28/05/2019 15:55

Toast Toppers.
