Is it weird to take the DC to see a teacher getting married?

Very small town, school has a real community feel.

One of the teachers is from the town and is getting married today at 3. The time was posted in the parish bulletin and the children all knew she was getting married- they had a special assembly etc.

Is it strange to go down to the church to see her? DD is desperate. We wouldn't go in or anything!

Nah, get yourselves there!

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2019 13:45

No that's fine. Be there for when they come out of the church.

GreenTulips · 25/05/2019 13:45

Wait outside and give her a wave! Lovely gesture and very popular in the olden days - pity it stopped

Aww. I would think she will be very touched!

My cousin is a primary teacher and the children from her village/school did this, it was absolutely lovely!
I think they were all waiting outside after the ceremony, and watched the confetti throwing, and all waved and cheered. It made it feel really special and showed all of us how valued she was in her community, which was lovely to see

Icedlatte · 25/05/2019 13:50

(ps weeping again at the memory!)

EastMidsGPs · 25/05/2019 13:50

Oh yes, take her she'll love it.

As kids we spent many Saturday afternoons sitting on the churchyard wall watching the weddings and running through the confetti strewn on the path
Often a bride's father threw coins to us, I think it was a tradition for good luck for the bride and groom or similar.

One of the teachers from DS school got married and had the school choir singing and invited all pupils to come and watch.

Not sure to go for the start or the end now!

Funny, I was just thinking the other day how this doesn’t happen any more.

Go at the end op and see them coming out.

viques · 25/05/2019 14:04

Go for the end. She will be feeling a lot more relaxed..

greateststory · 25/05/2019 14:05

Go at the end. Wait to see her coming out all glowing and happy with her new husband. She will have more time to stop and wave and smile at your DD.

Icedlatte · 25/05/2019 14:07

If you have any flowers in your garden DD could pick one to give to her

sarahC40 · 25/05/2019 14:08

Ahh that’s sweet. I’m sure she’ll be touched. I quite like it when I get a hello miss from my 11-16s in the shop 😄

anitagreen · 25/05/2019 14:08

Some children in my class did this when I married! Definitely take her for when they come out

IvanaPee · 25/05/2019 14:52

That’s adorable! Hope she enjoys seeing her teacher! :)

DCIRozHuntley · 25/05/2019 14:53

I was a Scout leader when I got married and 3 or 4 of my Scouts came and threw confetti. Lovely.

TrotEsio · 25/05/2019 14:58

Those saying the teacher will love it and will be touched... are you teachers? Grin

stargirl1701 · 25/05/2019 14:59

My class came when I got married.

Elpheba · 25/05/2019 15:05

My tutor group came to our wedding, the school choir sang and a few more came to see us arrive at the church. Made it feel very special!
