This was ds last August. His hair is longer at the front now

My 7yo likes his hair to be long(ish). I don't have a problem with that. His brothers have it slightly shorter, but also the slightly messy/floppy style.

Depends on the child. DS(10) has long floppy hair (which I love). It is soft and wavy, hangs well and looks cool, even when its in desperate need of a trim. DS(6), on the other hand, has a shorter cut. His hair is poker straight and very coarse and looks like a bale of hay balanced on his head when it gets too long. When he gets a bit older, he might want it long, which is fair enough, but I reckon he'll go back to short pretty quickly when it starts to hang over his eyes like a roller blind. Anyway, his face is way too cute to hide - at least that's what I tell him when he starts to complain about having his hair trimmed.

Short back and sides, I can't stand long hair on boys especially little ones. I think it's cruel but it's definitely something I can imagine lots of mnetters love

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/05/2019 23:23

DS used to have quite long hair, floppy, and he liked having his fringe straightened. It was like a longer Noel Gallagher. He then started having it really short when he joined army cadets, and since about 15 has had a skin fade with a longer top and front. He looks really smart, even if I preferred it longer.

Obviouspretzel · 18/05/2019 23:39

Why on earth would long hair on boys be cruel?

Applesbananaspears · 18/05/2019 23:46

I really dislike long hair on boys, particularly the surfer look I like it nice and short but not shaved.

TheRedBarrows · 19/05/2019 00:49

Longish and textured.
Done by a hairdresser not a barber.
I don’t like really short hair in boys or really long on girls.

WindsweptEgret · 19/05/2019 06:03

I don't like hyper gendered haircuts (or clothing) on boys or girls.

Scion457 · 19/05/2019 07:07

This is DS10, traditional short back and sides. He’s just started using product. Pudsy ears optional.

My son has shortish curly hair (is mixed), he likes having longer hair, think he feels too exposed with very short hair, he's almost 8. I don't really mind but not at all keen on the nazi undercut that was trending. Longer hair is cute, shows more character I think.

Sleephead1 · 19/05/2019 07:34

long and my so s is a bit curly so sometimes a bit messy I love long hair on boys

Shopperami · 19/05/2019 10:06

Anyone else?

Depends on the kid - Youngest has long hair, but it's curly so it's a kind of messy mop. Eldest prefers it a bit short so has had everything from grade 4 all over (long hot summer - he just wanted it gone) to my favourite on him which I think is called an undercut? Where it's very short up the sides, and the top is left longer so you can put some wax on it and whoosh it around. I think they both look lovely, but I let them choose their haircut (or lack of) because them being comfortable is more important than me thinking they look good.

My grandson has long hair, his choice. He looks like a girl from the back.

CakeNinja · 19/05/2019 10:25

Short back and sides, longer on top.
Dislike long hair on boys, it just somehow looks unkempt unless tamed by bobbles or clips which it very rarely is.
Ds prefers his longer than I like so that’s what he has. It’s not ‘long’ though, just a bit fluffy on top and at the back. He does like to get it shorter in the summer and has just had his ‘winter hair’ as he calls it cut off.
He is only 7 so I’m sure we will have many interesting styles to come Grin

“My grandson has long hair, his choice. He looks like a girl from the back.”

Or a boy with long hair.

Unless he wears a skirt, dress, short white socks and flimsy shoes?

Likewise plenty of girls wear jeans and sweat shirt and have a short cut. Confused

dementedpixie · 19/05/2019 10:31

Ds is sometimes mistaken for a girl at school. He doesn't care

Ilovewillow · 19/05/2019 10:37

My sons is very blond and has a slight kink to his hair and he has it not quite shoulder length and it always looks pretty messy due to the kink. I like it not too short but he is 6 and has no real opinion at the moment on his hair at least! His is very much rocking the Boris Johnson look - must get it cut immediately!!

bl00dyminecraft · 19/05/2019 12:18

Very short; both my son (almost 8) and my husband (almost bald) have a number 3 cut.
