Please can someone explain "Mrs Hinch"

I was at a friends house, and her mil was there. Mil asked my friend if she had a certain spray "Mrs Hinch used". I had never heard of her, did a quick google and apparently she gives out loads of cleaning tips via her Instagram account. I've had a snoop but all I can see on her account is lots of pictures of her immaculate house with the odd reference to Zoflora or fabric conditioner. Am I missing something? Where are the actual cleaning tips? I don't really use Instagram so not sure if I am doing something wrong.

Attractive woman who jumped on the ‘look at me’ bandwagon on Instagram and had garnered lots of followers who like that kind of shit.

It’s the modern equivalent of Good Housekeeping magazine I suppose. Hmm

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 17/05/2019 16:01

She posts on her stories.
It’s very boring. You are not missing much

PoorRichard · 17/05/2019 16:02

She's a phenomenon designed to make women think that doing the kind of inevitable domestic gruntwork most people delegate or just try to get out of the way as quickly as possible is something enjoyable and zeitgeisty.

She cleans a lot and people enjoy watching her clean. That’s all there is to it so not sure why people are being nasty about her Hmm

Reasons70 · 17/05/2019 16:07

I’ve found some her tips quite useful. She often posts on her instagram story.

TrixieFranklin · 17/05/2019 16:13

It's not really a cleaning account, it's more of a covering your house is tonnes of harmful chemicals account so it smells clean with lots of ads.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 17/05/2019 16:17

She’s a marketing professional who found an under-exploited niche and mined it until it provided an income.

divafever99 · 17/05/2019 16:19

Thanks for the replies. Yes there does seem to be a lot of chemicals involved. I prefer a damp duster instead of lots of chemical cleaning products. Don't think it will be of much use to me!

She was a hairdresser, so not a marketing professional.

I've never seen her Instagram or book, but I know from her she likes cleaning. I don't like cleaning so I suspect I'm not her target market. Grin

She's made a stack of money on the back of a full task we all have to do. Well done to her is what I say.

BurnedToast · 17/05/2019 16:23

I meant I know from here, not her.

BurnedToast · 17/05/2019 16:24

And I meant full, not full.

I give up.

BurnedToast · 17/05/2019 16:24

Dull.

Grin

I clearly cant be trusted with a keyboard.

concernedforthefuture · 17/05/2019 16:28

I don't get the Hinch hype. Spraying chemicals around willy-nilly like she does is dreadful for the environment and terrible for your health. Zoflora is a disinfectant. It's not meant to be squirted liberally around the home and (presumably) breathed in. I hope she thinks twice about all these chemicals when her baby is born.

ControversialFerret · 17/05/2019 16:35

She was a hairdresser, so not a marketing professional.

I think someone tracked down her old LinkedIn and she used to be in sales and marketing before she took up hairdressing. Apparently she'd won awards and whatnot.

I know of her, but don't follow her because I don't like the quantity of chemicals that she uses, some of which are very dangerous when they are mixed together. I also don't like the way that people are encouraged to horde huge quantities of cleaning gear and the amount of waste and plastic it generates.

Marketing cleaning to make women feel bad about not fulfilling their traditional womanly roles looking after the mens?

Squirrelblanket · 17/05/2019 16:46

She is a trained and very successful sales and marketing professional who did a training course in hair extensions. She set up an account which is basically making her a lot of money from affiliate marketing but disguised as cleaning tips and mental health support. Check out the threads on Tattle for the full story.

Just to add that she doesn't personally offend me, but I have my eyes open to the fact that she's a cleverly disguised selling account. I do follow her as she amuses me.

I think most of us clean our homes to feel good in our own surroundings. No need to bring men bashing to the thread.Hmm

JellyNo15 · 17/05/2019 17:04

She is funny, sweet and entertaining and she makes house work less dreary. If she is acting or a marketing genius well then I am sold.

For the haters, don’t follow. Cleaning has to be done and she helps me cope (and my DH does his share 50/50).

MamaofAHH · 17/05/2019 17:09

She also has a dog that has it's own bed, as in a proper human bed, and bedroom.

Bluntness100 · 17/05/2019 17:11

It's fine if you don't like her, no need to watch, but personally I find her very funny and very endearing.

Actually a very small amount of her stories are now about cleaning, as she's currently resting due to pregnancy complications, but the snippets of her day are actually funny and amusing. Particularly of her dog Henry.

As said, if it's not your thing fair enough, move on and watch something else you do like.

Reddedder · 17/05/2019 17:11

Is it time for the weekly Mrs Hinch bashing already?

SoxonFeet · 17/05/2019 17:15

I joined as a friend recommended her cleaning tips and I was impressed by how immaculate her house was.

I later realised she’s pregnant with the first child. That’s when I tapped out. Come back to me with your perfect house when you’ve got three kids, a ft job out of the home and then tell me the tips that really work!

A young couple with no kids should be able to keep a house looking clean and nice, it’s not that hard with just two adults.

But yeah I’m bitter and mean because the only people I know who have nice houses with kids either have cleaners or are SAHM’s.

Cue the onslaught of amazing mums confirming they work long hours, have loads of kids and a clean home - GOOD - you’re the people I actually want advice from. How do you do it??

divafever99 · 17/05/2019 17:24

Yes Mama at first I thought Henry was a child, thought the room was a bit grown up, then realised it was her dog. Her home is lovely though, if I had one room like that I would be happy! I'm interested to see what it will look like when her baby arrives. Probably full of plastic tat and washing like mine!

Fair play to the woman for seeing the opportunity and exploiting it for all it's worth.

I hate the clinical monochrome look of her house (it must absolutely stink of chemicals) but I admire her on a personal level.

Well I have one child and she's now 21. I cleaned and tidied as I went basically. I stopped actually having a cleaner when we had her as we were skint, although I have had once again since she was thirteen or so.

We both work (ed] full time. But every morning or night the toys were put away, dishes cleared away, kitchen cleared, laundry done and put away etc, and every sat or Sunday morning my husband and I would split the chores between us and spend an hour or so cleaning, changing beds, hoovering, dusting, windows etc.

It's all doable and if you keep on top of it and split it. it's not a huge deal. The trick is to keep on top of it.
