Heard a massive bang in my house but can’t work out what it was.

I only moved here a few weeks ago. I was in the bathroom which is downstairs and heard a massive bang like something exploded or something really heavy fell. part of the bathroom is in original house and part is in a ground level extension so no rooms above it. Next to it is a small room with hot water tank, washing machine, heating pipes. None of which were on. Other side is the kitchen. Nothing switched on there either. I’ve gone round the whole house and can’t see anything out of place or evidence of any “explosion”. Starting to worry there has been some sort of hidden pipe burst somewhere. Is that even possible?

We have had a olive oil explosion too!

The last unexplainable explosion turned out to be a neighbor teaching his son to make pipe bombs.

Do you have a cat? Ours makes the most god awful thud when he jumps/falls off the top of the wardrobe. He's the most ungraceful cat ever.

I'm with the check for loose live wires, especially if you can detect an odd fihy smell. We had a new boiler fitted, but the old cable was left hanging and still live Hmm It would occasionally brush up against a pipe and cause a really loud bang. Scared the shit out of me.

I've had 2 wood pigeons fly into my bedroom window. The first time, I was in the kitchen, which is underneath my bedroom. It shook the downstairs kitchen window, was really loud, and I went upstairs to investigate, and saw a white powdery perfect feathered outline of a pigeon on my window. The second time it happened, I was in my bedroom, and one flew into the same window, again with the loudest bang, and I watched it fly off into the distance, it didn't stop and keel over, which is what I would have expected. I have mirrored wardrobes, I think that confuses them.
