Super painful deep heel crack.. cure me!

JoleneJoleneJoleneJoleeeeeene · 07/05/2019 22:11

I have a 2-3cm deep heel crack that is ridiculously painful! I'm on my feet most of the day and I have no idea how to heal this quickly..
Any tips very gratefully received!

Goodness, that's really deep! I swear by Flexitol heel balm (with 25% urea, I think) to cure any cracked heels, but I'm not sure it'll be able to work its magic on something that deep. Worth a try though?

I've got an enormous tub from Amazon, and now apply daily to keep heels permanently smooth. By volume it's cheaper than buying the tubes, but if you've not tried it before, I'd start with a tube in case it doesn't work.

That’s an inch deep - are you sure? I’d be worried it would get infected. But I get cracked heels too unless I consistently use Flexitol. I also get regular pedis to help with dead skin but you could try a pumice stone.

Tootyfilou · 07/05/2019 22:48

Try putting a blister plaster on it if you have to stand all day. You might need to see a podiatrist if it is that deep. Sympathy... they are so painful.

Flexitol

BBCK · 07/05/2019 22:51

Flexitol too

RoomR0613 · 07/05/2019 22:51

I've bought a massive tub of the flexitol 25% urea cream heel balm. Apply morning and night.

I also use a foot grater thing to keep the hard skin at bay a bit.

It's completely sorted out my heels but I now have massive cracks between/ under my big toes instead Hmm

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 07/05/2019 22:52

Dermatonics once is better than flexitol, IMO. But with something as deep as that you'll need a chiropodist first, I'd think.

LemonySippet · 07/05/2019 23:01

Lanisoh for nipples is great if you've got any lying around, instant relief. Obviously something with urea in it is better but in the interim, lanisoh works really well...

At night put cream on and then sleep in a sock. Keeping foot warm and moist will promote healing. My daughter suffered from deep cracks for years and her son had them too. His doctor recommended "putting a sock on it" and she tried it too. It works.
PS Make sure it is a CLEAN sock!

Spicypizza · 07/05/2019 23:07

Vaseline and socks every night. Smudge loads on and as gross as it sounds try and wear socks that make your feet really hot and sweaty.
A foot file or pumice stone will help if used regularly as well.

123bananas · 07/05/2019 23:09

Super glue?

Failing that see your GP, that sounds deep and there might be some sort of infection causing it to get so bad.

RagingWhoreBag · 07/05/2019 23:17

I get deep cracks on my heels too. I find the best way to get rid of them is with a corn/callous knife to shave off as much of the hard skin as possible so that the crack doesn’t spread. Then get DP to massage my feet nightly with Flexitol.

When he’s away on business my feet get so bad, they miss him almost as much as my heart does!

I always find they’re better on holiday, walking along the beach barefoot, salt water and sand, does wonders, so book yourself a holiday too!! Grin

Walkerbean16 · 07/05/2019 23:22

Footner helps but that sounds really deep! Or do you mean length ways?

I love footner, when it starts peeling soak and use a pumice to get the skin off.

Its fab and really really gross.

madcatladyforever · 07/05/2019 23:26

Get some granuflex dressings from the chemist or on prescription. Soak foot in fairly hot salty water every night then apply dressing. You can cut them up. Should rehydrate heal and protect but I'd see a podiatrist first to get as much hard skin of as possible with a scalpel.

RNBrie · 07/05/2019 23:30

Pair of gel heel socks from Amazon and a thick layer of moisturiser underneath. I generally find they make deep cracks bearable literally overnight.

NotSoThinLizzy · 07/05/2019 23:33

See if you can get jelonet it's used for cracked nipples when breastfeeding. It's a God send for it.

Donnadon346 · 07/05/2019 23:39

Superglue it together, stops the pain instantly.

DangerMouse17 · 07/05/2019 23:41

Before bed: You need to put heel cream on after a brief soak in warm water. Don't use pumice or anything for such a deep crack. After cream, put on a pair of wet socks, covered by a pair of dry socks

In the day wear gel socks.

I also got some of that liquid bandage stuff when it stopped being so raw to fill in the gap a bit and that helped it go faster.

formerbabe · 08/05/2019 07:10

3 cm deep Shock

I'd be going to see a doctor.

HoppyHop · 08/05/2019 07:16

I suffered for years with cracked heels as soon as it was sandals and flip flops weather, they are so sore. I use flexitol every night and wear socks in bed about once a week (hate socks in bed!). Use heel pumice most days.
Thinking that you should go to the pharmacy though if they are as deep as that.

Iris1654 · 08/05/2019 07:21

Flexitol, i slather it on, plastic food bags over, then socks.
My feet are always much better in the morning.

Footner is also great

bewaretheidesofmarch · 08/05/2019 14:30

I have psoriasis on the soles of my feet which cracks quite often and is agonising to walk on. Duoderm ultra thin hydrocolloid dressings gave me my feet back in 10 minutes! They're rubbery and flexible like another layer of skin and the pain disappeared really quickly. Available over the counter and on prescription.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/05/2019 14:46

I thought OP meant the crack was 2-3cm long and also deep. I do hope so.
Flexitol works for me.

Perch · 08/05/2019 14:48

Rub bepanthen on thickly and sleep with a sock
Use a newtons chiropody sponge daily

FudgeBrownie2019 · 08/05/2019 14:49

I use Egyptian Cream at night on my heels. It's amazing stuff and works miracles with cracks.
