Best food from America?

Hoping MN can help me out here. DP is coming to the UK next week and wants to bring me some things.

Which treats and savoury things have you enjoyed the most or can you get most things here now?

(Actually I can't, I'm in the Highlands. It's a tiny Tesco)

Grape jelly? Kraft Macaroni and Cheese?
My mind has gone blank 😶

Thanks in advance.

Mr. Big choc bar
Maple syrup
Clinique stuff - way cheaper

Mindgone · 07/05/2019 01:50

Candied pecans from Trader Joe’s are SO good!

SeaToSki · 07/05/2019 01:57

Goldfish
Craisins
Melatonin
Sour patch kids
Twizzlers
Skippy super crunchy peanut butter
A reusable bag from Wholefoods
Fluff (for amusement factor only)

ChilliScallops · 07/05/2019 02:07

Better than Bouillon and maple syrup is the only things I can think. Other than tastier fresh veg, UK is significantly better. Although Trader Joe’s may start catching up.

wanttohideunderthestairs · 07/05/2019 02:16

Jolly ranchers, jolly rancher soda, sour patch kids and red hots.

BusterGonad · 07/05/2019 02:23

Charleston chews!

SubisYodrethwhenLarping · 07/05/2019 02:36

SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

BORAX powder obviously not for eating but can't buy it here anymore but so wish we could but it has so many uses but EU laws stopped it being sold here in uk, not sure about if it is able to get thru customs cos not illegal to own just buy so not like drugs etc

LittleMy77 · 07/05/2019 02:40

If you like Latin American and Mexican cooking, there's some great spice blends, hot sauces, canned chipotle peppers etc,

If you want novelty shite that'll withstand a nuclear war, then get him to bring twinkies

SpaceCadet4000 · 07/05/2019 02:57

When we lived in the UK we would bring back Graham crackers, Hot Tamales, and big tubs of melatonin and naproxen. Now I'd probably add Velveeta for queso and good BBQ sauce. You can get most stuff in the UK now though.

It's not really transportable, but DH and I are La Croix addicts and I don't remember there being an analogue in the UK.

mrsk28 · 07/05/2019 03:12

If he's going to Trader Joe's definitely get the peanut butter stuffed chocolate covered pretzels - amazing!! They do some nice herbal/flavored teas too. The red refresh one is lovely.

dreichuplands · 07/05/2019 03:14

We had family visiting who became addicted to La Croix after some searching they have tracked some down. ( that is a US product I really like)

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 07/05/2019 03:17

Nice to see the Tim Horton’s love. ❤️

Poutine is Canadian too Grin You need proper cheese curds for it but they wouldn’t get through customs.

tabulahrasa · 07/05/2019 03:22

Cheezits were good... crunchy Cheetos, um... Pringles in different flavours than here...

Lucky charms, you can get them here some places but only at ludicrous prices - though it depends how much you like eating pure sugar for breakfast Grin

Oh also loads of pop tart flavours - again pretty much pure sugar, lol

mathanxiety · 07/05/2019 03:38
  1. Tell him to look for little packets of Jiffy corn muffin mix. You can buy multipacks. Tell him not to be put off by the very cheap price.

images.app.goo.gl/R3x6G7vG9CGSjQ5E9 A picture.
You add an egg and a little milk and mix, then bake in a muffin pan. Lovely with chili or for breakfast.
No other corn muffin mix is the same.

Cake mixes in general, even Walmart's own brand, i.e. 'Great Value'.

  1. 'Smuckers Naturals' both crunchy and creamy style peanut butter.
You have to give it a good stir when you first open the jar and then stick it in the fridge or it will separate again but this is gorgeous peanut butter with no added oils.

  2. Melatonin.

  3. Big containers of ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc.

  4. Abuelita brand Mexican style hot chocolate mix.

mokapot · 07/05/2019 03:53

Coffee crisp
Kit Kat snack mix - in metro in Toronto
Starburst double flavour- new in 7eleven
Two bite brownies
Veggie stick chips
Maple syrup
Nestea zero cans
Gum
Hot skittles
Skor bars
Mr big bars
Funnel cakes - no ice cream
Pretzels

Womble75 · 07/05/2019 04:18

Twizzlers and Stove top stuffing.

EugeniaGrace · 07/05/2019 04:23

Coarse Cornmeal
Chipotle peppers
Hot sauce

Yum!

HalfBearOtherHalfCat · 07/05/2019 05:03

Butterfinger candy bars are delicious, and I don't think there is anything quite like them in the UK. So if you like the idea of sweet crunchy buttery peanut stuff, they would be worth a try.

Cornmeal. Yes! Never met anyone who didn't love cornbread or corn muffins.

Godiva pudding mixes. Best pudding mixes IMO.

And depending on where he is, as I'm not sure of availability outside my state (TN) Goo Goo Clusters. My favorite candy ever.

I do not personally recommend Hershey bars/kisses or Velveeta. Both taste artificial and a bit like vomit to me!

Harebel · 07/05/2019 06:21

Kool-Aid

Goldfish

Graham crackers

Crackerjacks

Lifesavers

Rootbeer

You can pretty much get all this over here now but I guess it's way more expensive! Smile

Backinthebox · 07/05/2019 06:28

Sugar and chemicals. Just about sums up American food 🤮🤮

HollyBollyBooBoo · 07/05/2019 06:53

Seasoned salt. Brilliant idea and I can't find anything like it over here - unless someone can point me in the right direction?!

Equimum · 07/05/2019 07:08

Maple syrup!

DisplayPurposesOnly · 07/05/2019 07:16

Tim Hortons are in the UK now - there are four branches in Greater Manchester, one in Birmingham, a couple around Glasgow + others

www.timhortons.co.ok

edgeofheaven · 07/05/2019 07:20

Tell him to choose whatever he likes from
Trader Joe’s. Lots of delicious snacks made from good ingredients.

I’m a sucker for cheddar cheese popcorn Grin

FrenchyQ · 07/05/2019 07:22

The only thing my husband brings home is ranch dressing
