I'm 5ft tall m, size 8-10 - Dad 6ft & Mum 5ft 7 but both grandmothers 4ft 10 & under.

When I was little, I desperately wanted to be tall like my parents. I walked around on tiptoes til I was 13 so I've buggered my tendons & have got quite chunky calf muscles. As my feet are size 2, it does accentuate my large legs. My legs are my insecurity - only ever wear trousers - not my height!

I do wish however wish my build was different - longer legs & a short body as opposed to my short legs & long body. I have problems reaching car pedals & swimming costumes my size aren't long enough so have to alway buy a bigger size.

I do find that men go for 'taller than me' women - maybe because they're more obvious! I tend to do date shorter than average men as it makes sex standing up a lot easier...

"growing up i was mercilessly teased about my height (almost everyone in my family and close friends is over 163cm )"

Ah, I can see why you would be insecure about your height in that case - that is a real shame that people thought it was ok to do that. I find it odd that height is still something that some circles continue to find acceptable to tease about, but I know it does happen, particularly to dc and to men.

I HATE being tall 🙄🙄

Doobigetta · 05/05/2019 19:42

I don’t think anyone gives a second thought to short women being short except short women themselves. The only thing that looks silly in any way is when you see a short woman wearing heels that she’s clearly uncomfortable in to try and add some inches.

OldSpeclkledHen · 05/05/2019 19:43

I'm 180cm or 5'11" cringe

This is clearly why you have such a hang-up about it.

You're 157cm tall, which is a perfectly normal height for a girl, and hardly worth being 'mercilessly teased' about.

Perhaps if your family (and friends) hadn't been such weirdos, you'd be going about life just fine.

YemenRoadYemen · 05/05/2019 20:13

Sorry - a perfectly normal height for a woman.

iklboo · 05/05/2019 20:15

6ft 3 here

Are you Gwendoline Christie? Wow. I'm the tallest female in our family at a whopping 5ft tall Grin

SmarmyMrMime · 05/05/2019 20:53

I'm 5ft 2. I can get a weird vertigo type feeling when with women shorter than 5ft purely because I'm not used to looking down on other adults. Grin

I can get claustrophobic when surrounded by too many taller people and I'm lost in a wall of shoulders.

I look young for my age, and being built like an average 12 year old has meant that people struggle to take me seriously as an adult. The number of times colleagues would enter my classroom, scan past me and ask where the teacher was Hmm

shitpark · 05/05/2019 21:12

I was the tallest at my school from the age of 7, so taller than 10/11 year olds. I hated it and got called the long thing and daddy long legs a lot. By 13 or 14 everyone had caught up with me so it wasn't an issue anymore, and now as an adult, I don't have any hangups about my size. The long legs and arms I hated as a child, now lend me an air of elegance (until I open my gob). So I suppose I'm happy with my size.
I can imagine that if I'd carried on growing at the same rate, I might feel differently.
Please OP, don't worry about your height, Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, some consider me beautiful, some don't. But it doesn't matter, there's more to me than my height, my face, my body and hair. How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? I think with age, you'll realise that it's all meaningless
