If so, what are your thoughts?

Would you recommend?

I used to have a cordless strimmer. Battery didn't last that long and over time it ran out of power quicker and quicker. Never replaced it when it finally died which was less than a year.

We own a petrol mower, happy with it.

LaganOnABubble · 05/05/2019 14:53

I’m wary of storing petrol

We have a Spear & Jackson one bought from Argos at the end of last summer so only been used 4 or 5 times but my husband is very happy with it. He loves his garden gadgets but this has been a real hit.

Yes, I have a Bosch Rotak cordless mower. I've had a corded one in the past, but hated having to watch the cable all the time. Then had a cheap push mower which became hard work (I'm 72), so splashed out a couple of years ago for the Bosch. As my lawn is average sized, the charge is more than enough to do the job, and the mower gives a lovely finish. It's rather heavy to lift (my shed is a bit awkward to get into), but that's outweighed by the effortlessness of mowing. Also got a cordless strimmer for the edges, which makes short work of them.

It’s spear and Jackson we are looking st, so thank you

I have a petrol and a gtech one, I love them both.

The petrol is brilliant at getting through when the grass had got a bit long and thick.

You shouldn't use petrol over 30 days old ( so you could get a small amount each time rather than storing it) as it starts to deteriorate and isn't good for the mower, also never tip a petrol mower on it's side as that makes the oil cover parts of the engine that should never get oil on them, always tip it back on the handle.
I was told this by the person that repaid nine.

The gtech is great for a quick wizz round. The battery last 40 mins, I have a quick charger that can do it in a hour but that's not good for the battery long term, the other charger takes several hours.

I have a petrol mower. No cable would be long enough to get to the end!

TheSpottedZebra · 05/05/2019 19:23

I have just bought one from Aldi, and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

I have a Bosch cordless. Came with two batteries. It's ideal as I am now on my own, couldn't cope with a petrol one and my lawn is too big for an electric one. It's fairly light and virtually maintenance free. I love it . Would get another one if it packed in.

Villanellesproudmum · 05/05/2019 21:55

Yes it’s a push along one, needs a bit of effort though.

Proseccoagain · 05/05/2019 21:55

By the way have had this Bosch cordless since 2007, so quite reliable.

RoomR0613 · 05/05/2019 21:59

I have one of these and think it's great

Flymo Mighti-Mo

Wish I had gone cordless years ago.

riverislands · 05/05/2019 23:21

Yes. Greenman. It's great.mows my small lawn half a dozen times between charges.

riverislands · 05/05/2019 23:21

But it is quite heavy.

PinkCrayon · 05/05/2019 23:22

Yes I love my one.

Fedupflo · 05/05/2019 23:25

Just got a Bosch cordless when our Bosch corded died. I love it.

LewisFan · 05/05/2019 23:32

I have a 56v Ego. It cuts through jungles! I love it. My whole family now demand to use it over their petrol and corded ones.

Sinead100 · 05/05/2019 23:33

Yes - i have an Ego cordless mower and strimmer. I love the mower but the strimmer is a bit heavy for me.

Itwouldtakemuchmorethanthis · 05/05/2019 23:40

Petrol is far better imo. What’s the rational with not using “old” petrol? Should be fine in a Jerry can surely?

PurpleWithRed · 05/05/2019 23:48

Bosch rotak, absolutely love it for my small plant- crammed garden. Highly recommended.

TapasForTwo · 06/05/2019 07:37

Yes. I got one last year, and it is brilliant. Mowing the lawn with it is so much easier than having to mess around with cables and extension leads.

I can't remember the brand so will post later. I did a lot of research and reading reviews before buying, and am very pleased with it.

LaganOnABubble · 06/05/2019 08:50

Thank you everyone

I love mine. Only used 4 times so far and our lawn isn't huge but it makes it so much easier than tripping over the wire!

HappydaysArehere · 06/05/2019 08:58

Our garden is about 150 feet long and my dh cuts it with a petrol mower. We are both old and I worry that I can’t pull the starter no matter how many times I try. I suggested a cordless but he doesn’t think it would be much good unless your garden is a lot smaller than ours.
