After spending ages clearing up an entire can of Pepsi Max, which has just spectacularly exploded, spinning 360 degrees around the room squirting pepsi as it span, as newly opened, full can slipped out of my hand, I would love to hear the stupid things you've done that made a huge mess.

The worst thing is , it was the last can left and I was really looking forward to it!

I tried to change the toner in the machine at work. Big mistake. I dropped it and black clouds of it went everywhere, all in the air and over the carpet and me.... in an open plan office

8 years ago. I had a shit day and was very late getting home. My husband would have sorted dinner but he was late as well and I got home before he did. I decided the easiest thing to make was some pasta with a jar of sauce. I grabbed the sauce from the cabinet, went to cross the floor, and dropped the jar straight onto the ceramic tiles.

It literally exploded. There was sauce everywhere. The walls, the cabinets, floor, ceiling, countertops, appliances, on the underside of the bloody cabinets, the fucking windows, curtains, the dishes on the open shelf, EVERYWHERE. Never mind all over me. It took my husband and I hours to clean it up. I was finding spots of it we missed for weeks.

Did baking with a friend's 2 and 4 year olds. I should have known better!

KetchupOnRoastDinner · 30/04/2019 16:39

Forgot to put the lid on a pan of popcorn. We were still finding kernels a year later.

Ohyesiam · 30/04/2019 16:40

Left a pile of plastic dog bowls on the hob to dry. Several hours later turned on oven.
The resulting melted bowls and strings of multi coloured plastic dripping down were like a cartoon.
I was very young and very stonedGrin

It was my son's birthday party and I put those candles on that automatically relight after they've been blown out. Cue ten little boys blowing over the cake for ages. It was covered in spit at the end.

Fairy Liquid in the dishwasher. Kitchen foam party.

When DDs were toddlers, we had a delivery with polystyrene blocks. They had a great time creating a snowstorm.
I thought using the hairdryer would make it more realistic...
I was finding polystyrene balls for months!

MitchAPalooza · 30/04/2019 16:49

I bought two big tubs of fence paint. As I was taking them through the house to the garden I somehow managed to theatrically drop one. It flipped upside down on the way down and went EVERYwhere. Covered the wooden floorboards, me, splashed the walls, the curtains, the dog. My DH came flying down the stairs while I stood there, dripping, pleading "quick, DO something!"

Bubblysqueak · 30/04/2019 17:04

I haven't laughed so much in ages thank you! It kind of makes up for the sticky patch I've just noticed that I missed!

I've also remembered another one.
Our very large dog managed to cut his ear. He then charged around the house shaking his head splattering blood everywhere, on the walls, ceiling, floor everything was covered around the entire house, it looked like a massacre had taken place. It took so long to clean up, we even noticed an odd couple of spots on the ceiling we missed 2 years later when decorating!

I dropped a bed pan full of urine in the middle of the ward corridor when taking it to the sluice. Definite low point for me as a student 😂

SantiagoSky · 30/04/2019 17:21

Let my toddler play with a baby bath tub full of lentils and went to the kitchen for a few minutes.

PompeyBez · 30/04/2019 17:27

The other day I knocked an almost full bottle of vodka on the tiled kitchen floor, showering glass and vodka everywhere. There was a pile of laundry that soaked up loads of vodka and stank. Weirdly it brought the kitchen floor up lovely!! Just to add, I wasnt even drinkingGrin

I am extremely clumsy so will add more😁😁

Flobochin · 30/04/2019 17:28

Clearing up gloss paint from:

My toddler
The carpet
The chair
The wall etc

Why did I leave an open can and turn my back one minute

ALongHardWinter · 30/04/2019 17:29

This happened quite a long time ago, about 20 years I reckon, but I've never forgotten it!
I was putting my coat on in the hallway,to pop to the shops quickly (middle of winter,so dark by about 4.30pm). I managed to punch the lightbulb in the hallway whilst putting on my coat, consequently all the lights in the flat fused. I went to the shops, intending to deal with the light situation when I got back. However,I couldn't find the torch,so couldn't see a thing in the electric cupboard. My DH was due home in about an hour,so I knew I'd have to wait until he got in and ask him where the torch was.
In the meantime,I went to the larder style cupboard in the kitchen to get a couple of tins out for dinner. In the process of fumbling around in the dark,I managed to knock a nearly full bottle of vegetable cooking oil over. It hit the floor with such force, that the lid popped off, leaking oil everywhere. I couldn't even begin to clear it up as I couldn't see a thing. When DH eventually got home, located the torch and got the lights back on,it took me nearly an hour to clear up the mess, using a whole roll of kitchen towel. The floor felt slippery in that spot for weeks afterwards, despite being washed several times.

Bubblysqueak · 30/04/2019 17:31

These are hilarious!

I bet you didn't live that one down for a while faster

Yes I've also let toddler ds demolish a few big blocks of polystyrene, making snow. Thinking they would just hoover up. I'm still finding them now and he's almost a teenager.

ALongHardWinter · 30/04/2019 17:36

Just remembered another one, much more recent. I dropped a jar of cook-in curry sauce on the kitchen floor. The bottom of the jar broke off and the lid flew off, spraying sauce all around the kitchen,up the fridge door,up the cupboard doors, under the freezer,up the walls, even on the duvet that was on the floor in front of the washing machine about 6 feet away, waiting to be loaded in the machine. What fun I had clearing that lot up. The stain on the duvet never came out.

RidgedPerfection · 30/04/2019 17:37

I knocked a huge powder fire extinguisher off the wall at work many years ago, which resulted in all of the alarms going off too and the fire service automatically attending!!

Bubblysqueak · 30/04/2019 17:39

rigid did you own up?

Got drunk, got a taxi home then realised I had forgotten my key. I kicked in the lounge window and went to bed. Woke up and I was covered in blood, the whole downstairs was scatted with broken glass and soaked with rain. Had to deal with all that mess (and shame) whilst suffering a hideous hangover.

RidgedPerfection · 30/04/2019 17:43

@Bubblysqueak it was fully witnessed!! I would have owned up anyway as it was an accident - and to be fair I had pointed out that it's location was poor quite some time before it happened as it was really easy to catch when pushing beds etc through the narrow corridor. I was totally, totally mortified but everyone was very reasonable about it.

Ifihadapoundd · 30/04/2019 17:44

I dropped a full 6 Pinter of milk on a tiled floor. I hadn't done the lid up properly and that shit went everywhere!! Every surface was covered 😭 it has stained the ceiling and I will never be aloud to live it down.

Bubblysqueak · 30/04/2019 17:46

Please tell me you managed to clear it all up and not miss any, that would smell awful!
