Are you going to vote in the Euro elections?

I’m working in a polling station and am wondering how busy it will be. Usually it’s the quietest of all the elections (in my little polling place, General/Scottish are the busiest, then local, then Euros). I feel I may need more books and food to keep me entertained this time. It’s a very long day!!!

Getting the right to vote in this country cost me a LOT of money

Those who do not vote have no right to complain about the shower of &&&& politicians we have

This I will definitely be voting this Thursday and later in the month

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 29/04/2019 21:36

I’ll be voting, either Change U.K. or Lib Dem.

EngTech · 29/04/2019 21:37

I will be voting NOTA

Yes

prettybird · 29/04/2019 22:31

I've voted on average once a year since 2009: EU elections in 2009 (d'Hondt system); GE in 2010 (FPTP); AV referendum and Holyrood elections (using a hybrid FPTP and d'Hondt system), both, iirc, on the same day in 2011; Council elections in 2012 (STV); EU elections in 2014 (May); Indyref in September 2014; GE in 2015; EU Referendum in June 2016; Holryrood elections in May 2016; Council elections May 2017; GE June 2017; and now EU elections in 2019 Shock ..... and who knows, another GE Wink

I think that's all Shock - and I've made sure to vote every time Grin

potatopeelings · 29/04/2019 22:48

Total waste of time voting in my constituency - the same party gets about 80% of the votes every time. If there is a Monster Raving Loony candidate I usually vote for them. At the last general election, their manifesto made more sense than anybody else's.

Doubt we'll have a MRL Euro candidate though so I'm not sure who I shall vote for yet.

TalkinPaece · 29/04/2019 22:51

@potatopeelings
THe EU elections are on proportional representation and different constituency boundaries

it is ALWAYS worth voting

marvellousnightforamooncup · 29/04/2019 22:52

I'll probably vote SNP as the strongest remain party in my area, I normally vote Labour. I'm a bit torn because Labour aren't remainey enough for me and the SNP are rattling on about Indyref 2 that I can't be arsed with at this point. I guess I should vote LibDem but that might be a waste of time.

potatopeelings · 29/04/2019 23:00

it is always worth voting not round here it isn't. It's like blowing a dandelion clock in a hurricane.

TalkinPaece · 29/04/2019 23:02

Lockheart · 29/04/2019 23:03

I'll be voting, I vote every chance I get!

I'm unsure who to vote for at the moment, I need to do some more reading.

Lockheart · 29/04/2019 23:08

Thing is @potatopeelings there will be millions of people who won't vote. Imagine how different the political landscape could be if everyone voted.

At the last general election non-voters made up a bigger proportion of the voting age population than those who voted for any political party. If they'd have spoilt their ballots then there would have been more spoilt ballots than votes for the Conservatives. That sends a powerful message.

Things will never change if you only have the same group of voters electing the same politicians over and over again.

It is so important to vote. The millions of you saying "it's a waste of time" could change the course of our history.

ginghambox · 29/04/2019 23:36

Yes Conservative in the locals and either the Brexit party or UKIP.

Rememberallball · 29/04/2019 23:44

Well, unless my county council pull their fingers out and actually add DH and I to the electoral register for the area (I’ve been here since November and we’re still not registered so miss out on the local elections this week and probably the European elections in 3 weeks time), we won’t be eligible to vote!!

Kummerspeck · 29/04/2019 23:46

Yes, independent in locals and Brexit Party or whoever supports Leave in EU

happyhillock · 29/04/2019 23:50

No, i don't vote to keep politician's in cushy job's, they don't do anything for me.

ginghambox · 29/04/2019 23:51

I will add, NOT Tommy Robinson who is unfortunately standing in my area.

DippyAvocado · 30/04/2019 00:04

@Rememberallball have you registered online?

www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

safariboot · 30/04/2019 00:11

Yes, I always vote.

If the Monster Raving Loonies can field a candidate, I'll bloody well vote for them. If not, I don't bloody know tbh.

ilovesooty · 30/04/2019 00:22

Yes
I always vote.

AlexaShutUp · 30/04/2019 00:27

I'll be voting. I always do. Not sure yet for whom. Depends who has the most convincing remain agenda.

Tavannach · 30/04/2019 00:27

Yes, I always do. Who for is not a question I can answer atm, but it won't be Labour. I'm a little bit sad about that.

happyhillock · 30/04/2019 00:43

@Talkinpaece even though i'm not voting i have every right to complain about politician's i work and they take my taxes, as far as i'm concerned there a bunch of legal crook's, remember the expense scandal they were stealing tax payer's money and most of them got away with it,
Politician's look after number 1 themselves

UnhealthySugarOverload · 30/04/2019 00:55

Nope, never have , never will. Why anyone approves of voting for some unknown chancer who disappears off to Brussels and earns £100,000 a year for rubber stamping EU edicts is beyond me.

TheCaddy · 30/04/2019 07:25

Yes, I will vote. For whom, I don’t know. I’m in Scotland. It won’t be for the SNP though.
