RunningNinja79 · 26/04/2019 21:46

We love Modern Family but our closest friends (same SOH) just don’t get it Confused

Bluestitch · 26/04/2019 21:48

Which shows are similar to but better than breaking bad? Asking because I like it and want recommendations.

Power on Netflix is about drug dealers but so superior to BB in my opinion. Also The Wire.

elp30 · 26/04/2019 21:55

Any Star Wars films, GoT, the Marvel films, Fast & Furious films, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Bake Off, that really terrible Ricky Gervais series...

Reasonstobeearful · 26/04/2019 22:32

Thanks bluestitch. Agree that the wire is really good. Not seen power so will have a look. Cheers!

Patroclus · 26/04/2019 22:45

Line of Duty is really really cheesy and I dont understand why people cant see it

Blackandpurple · 26/04/2019 22:50

Game of thrones
Peaky blinders
Mrs brown
Harry potter
Eastenders

PlasmaRain · 26/04/2019 23:25

Reasonstobeearful if you like Breaking Bad you’ll like the spinoff/prequel kBetter Call Saul’. It’s the backstory of dodgy BB attorney, Saul Goodman, and features a lot of BB characters of the villainous persuasion. Also you might like Fargo both the movie and the tv series.

TV and movie things I can’t get along with that others appear to love are:
Stranger Things
Line of Duty
Homeland
Twin Peaks
Boardwalk Empire
Friends
Star Wars
Sex and the City
Any movie with Johnny Depp in it [even before it transpired he’s an abusive twat)

MyElbowIsItchy · 26/04/2019 23:28

Peep Show
Game of Thrones
Gogglebox

origamiunicorn · 26/04/2019 23:30

The Wire. I tried, several times but I can't get into it. Getting into the characters is a big thing for me and I just didn't care about any of them and whether they lived or died.

Meant to be one of the best TV series ever but I just don't get it.

TheBulb · 26/04/2019 23:34

Fleabag. It just isn’t that interesting. I watched all of both seasons one day I was ill and unable to get off the sofa, thinking it was going to reveal itself as as groundbreaking, witty and raw the reviews said, but I think I was more moved and amused by an episode of Pointless I watched immediately afterwards.

Then I came on here and was baffled by endless threads about people crying themselves sick over the finale.

Gertie75 · 26/04/2019 23:34

Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings.

Akire · 26/04/2019 23:36

Love actual- rather poke myself in eye
Mrs Brown boys
Any Celeb or Audition shows
Lord of rings
Star Wars
Luther

Ownerofmultiplechimps · 26/04/2019 23:37

Peaky Blinders
Stranger things
The OA
Breaking Bad
Sneaky Pete
The Wire
Mrs Browns Boys
Any Alan Partridge
Strictly
X Factor

Graphista · 26/04/2019 23:40

Loads!

Luther - shite acting dreadful writing

Harry Potter - clear Enid Blyton rip off poorly translated to film

ANY "scripted reality" bollocks - just fucking awful, talentless needy twats being given airtime - why?!

Mrs browns boys - worst of 70's most unfunny "comedy"

Dr Foster - was so hyped I kept expecting something to make the hours spent watching unwanted - nope!

Homeland - should be right up my alley, cannot get into it.

That's ones I've actually seen loads I won't even watch

GoT and poldark - I don't have sky anyway but even so from what I've heard of the casual displays of sexual violence puts me off.

Breaking bad, better call Saul, power, empire - not interested in shows that glamourise drug dealing, treating people like shit and In the case of empire is a vehicle for lauding a wife batterer!

Some I used to like but gone off

Soaps - same storylines repeatedly rehashed OR utterly unbelievable nonsense

Himym - it's ok but it's clearly a friend's rip off there's just no "Phoebe"

Big Bang theory - earlier seasons were good but it's past its best now

Graphista · 26/04/2019 23:41

Oh - forgot

Ray Donovan - sounded right up my street and I normally like liev but the gratuitous and wince inducing casual violence put me off

Ironfloor269 · 26/04/2019 23:47

Game of thrones
Dirty dancing

BlondeBumshelll · 27/04/2019 00:38

Harry Fucking Potter.
Lord of the Rings.
The West Wing.

Aldicheckoutworkout · 27/04/2019 00:50

Never seen GOT but I'm not sure i would like it. Saw a few min of love island and that was more than enough.
Also Friends and only fools and horses.

Deadringer · 27/04/2019 00:53

I hate reality stuff like bake off and strictly, Mrs brownes boys is unbelievably dire, GOT is over hyped shite, but I love modern family and big bang (even though it's past it's best). Walkng dead used to be amazing but now it's just meh, and I loved the first season of the OA but the second was pure rubbish.

Deadringer · 27/04/2019 00:54

And dirty dancing was a load of crap.

Jsmith99 · 27/04/2019 01:16

Lord of the rings : tedious nonsense.

Star Wars : the original 3 movies were ok, but the rest were just bad kids films.

Shawshank redemption: the most overrated film ever made.

acatcalledjohn · 27/04/2019 01:21

Friends. The most overrated sitcom in the history of sitcoms.
