I've forgotten to buy or do something. I feel it in me bones. What is it?

If you are going abroad: valid passports, EHICs, currency, insurance (travel, car if driving), international breakdown cover. Tickets.

Whether going abroad or not: medication, tickets, phone chargers, rain coats, sunhats/glasses, sun cream. Jumpers, different sorts of shoes. Little first aid kit (anything liquid in hold luggage if flying). Sewing kit, nail kit. Corkscrew!

Nappies, wipes, cream. Toys. Ipads for the journey plus headphones? Books, colouring. Snacks for journey. Pushchair. Car seat/booster If needed.

Any kitchen bits if self-catering?

If you have done last minute washing, don't forget to pack the dry stuff HmmBlush

That's all I can think of for now!

Seeline · 25/04/2019 09:37

ziggiestardust · 25/04/2019 09:43

Small, simple games to play whilst waiting. I always keep a pack of Uno cards in my bag, along small games magnetic hangman, the roll for it dice game and sushi go. Fab at the airport, whilst waiting for food etc.

Tablets and headphones.

Colouring books are a school boy error. Don't spend the flight looking under your seat for crayons.

If you have Netflix you can download films to the tablet. Do it.

So many snacks. Just tons of snacks.
Travel sickness pills. Just give them some before you go in case.

Dpare clothes for when they puke anyway.

Something to suck on for the plane taking off.

Everything else you can get there.

OkMaybeNot · 25/04/2019 09:45

I'm so glad I posted this Grin corkscrew, calpol, plasters. THANK YOU.

Self catering apartment, Spain, kids are 9 5 and 2.

TerryWogansWilly · 25/04/2019 09:46

Self catering should have a corkscrew

stayathomer · 25/04/2019 09:46

A jumper/ warm clothes in case it isn't the temp you thought, or swimming clothes and short in case you experience a heatwave. Antihistamines, book, earphones ... god I'm bad at this!!!

TerryWogansWilly · 25/04/2019 09:47

Always put a plastic bag in your carry on for things that are peed/vomited on.

elQuintoConyo · 25/04/2019 09:47

Where are you going? That'd help... Grin

Each child needs:
Toothbrush
Pyjamas
Favourite teddy (or second favourite, in case favourite gets lost!)
Clothes
Shoes
Beach towel
Hats
Documents (passport/letter of permission off other parent if necessary and you're travelling alone/medical cover or insurance/doctor's note of they're taking any medication etc).
Purse with their own money to buy tat/play arcade machines.

Shared:
Tech + chargers (depending on age)
Small bag of usual toy bits (handful of Playmobil figures, car, Barbie - whatever)
Toiletries
Medicine (including plasters, suncream etc)

Anything for the journey/rainy days:
Uno
Toy magazine
Colouring book
Sticker book

Anything else is just gravy.

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 25/04/2019 09:49

All the various chargers and plugs and extension leads?

Wet wipes for whatever parents use wet wipes for?

Electronic copies of all tickets, passports, boarding passes etc?

Lights on timers and/or neighbours primed to watch the house?

TerryWogansWilly · 25/04/2019 09:50

Wet wipes for whatever parents use wet wipes for?
Parents use them for literally everything.

Every episode of MacGyver should have included a wetwipe

elQuintoConyo · 25/04/2019 09:56

Ok... Spain.

For toiletries and suncream (if you run out/forget) go to Clarel (lots of small shops on the high streets) or Mercadona (supermarket, excellent quality, they also sell Tetley tea bags). Aldi/Lidl are usually found in out of town retail parks, so not really accessible unless you have a car.

There are plenty of €1bazaar shops, mostly run by Chinese people. If you go to ones off the main strip they'll be cheaper. Here you can get pretty much everything - cheap and cheerful bucket+spade kits, inflatables for the pool, mosquito nets (not that you should need one), stickers, felt pens....etc. they're fantastic places! Great for pocket money. You can also get random things you may find you need, like a sharp knife, plastic bowl for small child, ziplock bags etc.

Clarel also sells: mosquito bands and after its stuff, talc for getting dry sandy off skin etc. Cheap as chips!

Enjoy your holiday - I hope the weather improves!

ScatteredMama82 · 25/04/2019 09:57

Thermometer. I don't go anywhere without our in-ear one, and agree calpol and also ibuprofen. Sun hats. Refillable water bottles/sippy cups.

TakeMeToKernow · 25/04/2019 09:59

All stages of the journey calculated to pedantic precision detail?

Route to airport? Parking at airport? Or drop off at airport? Any charge for the drop off?

All parts of itinerary printed or screenshotted on at least two phones?

Travel insurance?

Arrangements for airport to accommodation?

Planned your first nights meal, whether it’s eat in or eat out? You don’t want to have to think too hard about that after the journey!

Do you have a large bag for carrying all the DCs shit stuff to the poolside/beach?

Still18atheart · 25/04/2019 10:04

Universal power adapter socket thing
Chargers
Sun cream
Passport and tickets
Driving license if hiring a car
Swimming stuff
Stuff to do
Pack of cards
First aid kit
Hat and sunglasses

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 25/04/2019 10:08

You can buy literally everything in Spain! Your self catering apartment will have a corkscrew!!

The only things I'd be sure to bring would be passports and boarding passes, Calpol tablets and anti histamines.

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 25/04/2019 10:11

DVLA code if hiring car?

NeverTalksToStrangers · 25/04/2019 10:15

Not sure about Spain but I know its very hard to get fruit squash type stuff in France and Italy. If your kids aren't water fiends and you don't want them drinking fizzy drinks or pure orange juice all week, take some of the small bottles of concentrate.
