Is this a thing?

Why has it never occurred to me?

Never even thought of this, good idea!

tappitytaptap · 22/04/2019 16:08

My mum used to do it, I think its a great idea Smile. Gets a job done and you get some sun!

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 22/04/2019 16:09

My neighbour irons in the garden.

I would too but I am short and as a result things like the cuffs of DH and DSs shirts hang onto the floor from the low ironing board so would get dirty in the garden.

I did a pile today with the full width conservatory doors wide open so it was ALMOST like being in the garden.

letsdolunch321 · 22/04/2019 16:09

Yep, have done this previously definitely gets my vote.

Oblomov19 · 22/04/2019 16:09

Yes, both Dh and I have occasionally done it. Why not?

stofi · 22/04/2019 16:10

Our neighbour used to do her ironing in the garden, topless, but only in the summer.

Seeline · 22/04/2019 16:11

My mum always ironed in the garden in hot weather - often in a bikini top and shorts!

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/04/2019 16:11

Yep, do it all the time - we'll more DH that me. Whenever we get the opportunity that is, if you have to do chores and the weather is nice, why not? I've just given him a haircut in the back garden too.

ZigglesAndPaws · 22/04/2019 16:17

Husband is having a wardrobe clear out and has just declared that ‘I’ve got too many shirts, a good 50% of the ironing pile can go to the clothes bank.’

I have never loved that man more 🥰

RomanyQueen1 · 22/04/2019 16:20

Yes, if there's somewhere in the shade with a breeze it's cooler than sweating indoors on days like today.
I've done it in my bikini before now, as our garden isn't over looked.

happyhillock · 22/04/2019 16:23

One of my friend's has been doing her ironing in the garden for year's on nice day's.

julensaor · 22/04/2019 16:28

never ever iron, can't believe so many people do, what needs ironing?

Bringbackthestripes · 22/04/2019 16:28

I used to have a friend who did ironing in the garden in her bikini top and shorts so she could top up her tan.

ticketsonsalenow · 22/04/2019 16:32

It has been known for me to do the ironing.

Sometimes.

And once I did it in the garden.

Zillaindie · 22/04/2019 16:32

So....I know how I'm spending my morning tomorrow!

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 22/04/2019 16:34

My mum’s next door neighbour has done this for years.

THe first time it took us ages to figure out what she was doing as we could only see part of her through the fence so in the end my Mum went upstairs so she could see over the fence😂

AguerosAngel · 22/04/2019 16:35

I always do this, I have the music on (not loud) while I do it.

When Wimbledon is on (if it’s sunny) I take the TV out in the back garden and watch while I iron.

My DM always did it and my DGM, I thought it was normal!

Connieston · 22/04/2019 16:35

Genius! Ohhh and you could hang the be-hangered ironed items on the line too.

Ezzie29 · 22/04/2019 16:38

Never ironed in the garden (very rarely iron at all actually) but have peeled and chopped veggies in the garden, and dyed my hair in the garden once but that wasn’t the best idea as it was a bit breezy and I ended up with some leaves and a few small flies stuck to the bleach. But ironing in the garden sounds like a lovely way to get some sun whilst still being productive.

Yabbers · 22/04/2019 16:44

I used to do this. No good for big stuff though.

MrsEricBana · 22/04/2019 16:49

Outside power point you say? That would be very handy for all sorts.

TooBusyHavingFun · 22/04/2019 17:04

I gave up ironing around 14yrs ago! Found a new purpose for the ironing board though - it's now a portable window desk Grin

squee123 · 22/04/2019 17:12

@BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou you could just pop the ironing board on a picnic rug or old blanket or towel

mabelsgarden · 22/04/2019 17:14
Confused
mabelsgarden · 22/04/2019 17:14

Where is the iron plugged in??? Confused
