Bloody embarrassed... how do you all pronounce 'thus' ?

I'm totally embarrassed just because this happened in front of my partners dad.

I am currently writing up a college assignment and used the word 'thus' in a sentence. Now, not using this word a lot I asked my partner who was standing with his dad if this sentence made sense.
When I pronounced thus all I got was 'it's thus! Thus!' from both of them. Obviously writing it down you don't know how it's said.

I pronounce it 'th-us' like 'fuss' but using 'th' they said it is 'the-us' obviously said as one word and not with a hyphen in.

I know I'm 100% wrong but has anyone else pronounced it my way making my embarrassment less?

This is bringing back childhood speech therapy.
All the examples of voiced vs unvoiced th - I can pronounce both, but have no clue when I'm supposed to do which.
So the, this, thing, thin - all the same. I think I usually do them unvoiced but voiced when I'm tired.

I think the L/W is a London specific sound

You get it in Glasgow as well. I can remember my granny correcting my wee cousin's pronunciation of "milk" (mowk). It's also a key difference between west and central/east Swiss German, very random fact for you there...

Reading this thread and trying to say 'th' in the way various posters describe, I've realised for the first time (and I'm 62, so it's a long time!) that I say 'the' with a different 'th' depending on whether the next word starts with a vowel or consonant.
So I'll say 'the apple' with my tongue at the front and more of an 'e' sound at the end that runs into the vowel at the start of the next word, and 'the bed' with my tongue further back and the the 'e' cut off.
I always knew I sometimes changed the 'e' sound, but never thought until today that the 'th' was different too.

Thus rhymes with bus. The 'th' is the same as from 'the' , 'them', 'their'.
