Just been to see this in London today and it was breathtaking. I've never seen anything like it. I just feel the need to tell everyone how amazing it was. I had a little weep at the end. It was exquisite. Any other fans?

My mum and sister saw this last week and loved it - I wish I could have gone with them!

DramaAlpaca · 20/04/2019 19:53

Oh yes, I was all of a flutter myself after watching it Grin

UrsulaPandress · 20/04/2019 19:54

Saw it several years ago. Fabulous.

GlowWine · 20/04/2019 19:54

Me, me, me! Could not agree more. Saw it a long time ago, probably the first tour late 90s maybe with Adam Cooper as the swan but I would not swear to that. Still watch it on YouTube occasionally.

dodobookends · 20/04/2019 19:58

Great isn't it? I've seen it several times, and we know a couple of dancers in the current cast.

I actually like his Sleeping Beauty better though.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 20/04/2019 20:01

We've just bought tickets for Romeo and Juliet in August.

It’s absolutely fantastic!!! Saw it a few years ago, must see it again.

Cataline · 20/04/2019 20:01

I'm so pleased I saw your post.

I'm going to see it in a few weeks as I was given tickets for my birthday.

I was worried as I HATED the last Matthew Bourne show I saw Blush (The Red Shoes)

Saying that, I LOVED his Carman which I saw a few years ago.

I'm hoping that I'm going to love Swan Lake as much as that!

twinnedtoiletlady · 20/04/2019 20:12

Absolutely loved swan lake too - I'd never been to ballet before but this performance was incredible moving and beautiful. dd and I booked tickets for Romeo and Juliet straight away. We're going to see this next month, can't wait but have been told it won't be as good as Swan Lake.

dancemom · 20/04/2019 20:14

We saw it last month

Mesmerising

greencybermummy · 20/04/2019 20:17

Saw it last weekend. Utterly amazing. Best thing I've seen for a long long time. So pleased I made the effort as it was quite a long way for us to go.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 20/04/2019 20:19

Brilliant!

Took my ma a few years ago. Just before it started she turned to me horrified that there would be men dancing with men. Think she'd have left the theatre if she could!

Even she was gobsmacked with how good it was! The brilliance overturned the all-male ensemble.

viques · 20/04/2019 20:19

Saw it a while back, second time around, I think they have changed a few bits but it is still stunning, I never understand why people make snidely remarks about male dancers, they are equivalent to the finest athletes IMO, except athletes are not usually expected to lift and carry other people while making it look effortless, The prince character was incredible when we went, a very young dancer, can't remember his name, , but the chief swan was my favourite, such an amazing dancer.

WitchyBollox · 20/04/2019 20:19

Edward Scissorhands is also spectacular!

NannyRed · 20/04/2019 20:20

Everything Matthew Bourne does is sublime!

I live in Birmingham, I’ve seen Swan Lake and Cinderella by MB. The man is a true genius.

storynanny · 20/04/2019 20:21

Glad you enjoyed it, think I would love it too.
We saw Rip it up at the Garrick in London on Wednesday, absolutely loved it, an energetic 2 hours of sixties singing and dancing. Even though Louis Smith was ill, his understudy was amazingly good,
it was fantastic.

Eustasiavye · 20/04/2019 20:23

I loved it too.

TapasForTwo · 20/04/2019 20:25

It's brilliant. I saw it years ago and loved it. What a talented man.

PorpentinaScamander · 20/04/2019 20:26

He is so so talented! The boy we all used to hate dancing with in dance lessons danced for his company a while ago.

WhiteVixen · 20/04/2019 20:27

I’ve only seen the filmed version, not live, but yes, I loved it too.

TraLaLaaaaa · 20/04/2019 20:28

Ooh, I saw it on the telly years and years ago and was blown away by it. Finally going to see it on stage in a few weeks and am really looking forward to it.

In the meantime, I've seen quite a few of MB's other ballets and find them a bit hit and miss to be honest. Some amazing, some a bit meh.

fatpatsthong · 20/04/2019 20:28

Another who saw it in the 90s with Adam Cooper - was the most mesmerising thing I'd ever seen and we all sobbed. I have the dvd!

I also loved his Cinderella and his sleeping beauty. Dds saw sleeping beauty on the tv one Christmas when they were about 5 and were spellbound.

Bearfrills · 20/04/2019 20:30

You need to see Sleeping Beauty, it's amazing. I took DD a few years ago and now she wants to be Ashley Shaw when she grows up Grin

OhTheRoses · 20/04/2019 20:32

Love all his stuff.

Dockray · 20/04/2019 20:32

Me and DD are off to see it next month. I saw it nearly 20 years ago and it was amazing. Can't wait for DD to see it. She normally goes to the ballet with her great aunt but I insisted we do this one together.
