Just been to see this in London today and it was breathtaking. I've never seen anything like it. I just feel the need to tell everyone how amazing it was. I had a little weep at the end. It was exquisite. Any other fans?

I've got tickets to see it in Hull next week, I'm very excited!

FVFrog · 20/04/2019 20:34

Me. Bloody brilliant! Saw it at the Mayflower in Southampton with my Mum and DS 17(who dances) it brought the house down, never seen such a response from an audience. Also saw The Red Shoes in London which a loved, I was a little less impressed with Cinderella though. Can I also recommend Akram Kahn’s Giselle, similarly brilliant. Love to watch live dance!

Runningintothesunset · 20/04/2019 20:35

We saw it recently, absolutely incredible. I hadn’t expected to laugh either! Funny, passionate, heartbreaking. Go see it if you can!

TapasForTwo · 20/04/2019 20:35

I know the mum of one of the dancers Grin

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 20/04/2019 20:37

We saw Swan Lake just before Christmas and were absolutely mesmerised by it. DS is 15 and I was a bit "God, what if he hates it?" but he was just as blown away by it as we were.

At the end, we all turned to each other and said that we would sit through it again there and then if we could.

Also saw Rip It Up earlier this year and I was so worried because the reviews were luke warm but we LOVED it.

LovelyCocksReg · 20/04/2019 20:38

I’ve seen it about five times and it’s still my favourite ever performance I’ve ever seen. Hope to see Romeo and Juliet too.

Effic · 20/04/2019 20:42

Loved it to although like dodo I think sleeping beauty is the best. Was nonplussed by Cinderella and by red shoes - have tickets for Romeo & Juliette. I’m really hoping it’s as good as the earlier ones

mbosnz · 20/04/2019 20:50

I saw his 'Nutcracker' (showing my age). That was amazing. . .

Xenadog · 20/04/2019 21:27

Oh OP, it is truly wonderful, isn’t it? I saw it at Christmas and it was utterly magical. Like a PP said Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty is wonderful too. I want to see Cinderella, it was on TV and looked incredible but we couldn’t get tickets. I’ve also seen his Nutcracker and Edward Scissor Hands and they are tremendous too. I think Matthew Bourne is a genius!

I think the humour in Swan Lake is so unexpected as well that it just heightens the drama and beauty of it. LOVE IT!!!!!

TattiePants · 20/04/2019 21:38

I saw it 3 or 4 years ago and it was phenomenal. I've since seen Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty and have tickets for Romeo and Juliet later this year.

UnaOfStormhold · 20/04/2019 21:48

I still remember Adam Cooper electrifying the audience just walking on as the Black Swan. I have an old VHS somewhere which I should think about getting digitised!

PetraDelphiki · 20/04/2019 21:52

Adam cooper was amazing as the swan (he’s the one billy Elliot turns into in the film I think)

MWestie · 20/04/2019 22:30

So happy to find a Matthew Bourne thread...I love his work!

Been lucky enough to see many of his productions and Swan Lake is just sublime.

Do you know who danced your Prince and Swan/Stranger op? When I saw it in January they were Dominic North and Max Westwell and they were amazing.

ladymariner · 20/04/2019 23:39

Mumthedogsbeensick me too, was really looking forward to it anyway and am especially so now I've read this!

CupoTeap · 20/04/2019 23:44

Amazing work, truly breathtaking

ladymariner · 25/04/2019 23:32

Just back from seeing it....there are not enough words to describe how utterly fabulous it is!!

Another fan. Fabulous! Beautiful!

FenellaMaxwell · 26/04/2019 02:06

I saw it back in the 90s with Adam Cooper and again about 5 years ago and it was incredible. I’d like to see it with the current cast - I saw Max Westwell dance Romeo for the ENB and he’s a brilliant dancer.

MWestie · 26/04/2019 22:27

I love how Matthew Bourne revives and reworks his productions regularly and says himself that he enjoys that as much as creating the new.

I've seen his Swan Lake several times now over many years and it is always fresh, vibrant and utterly spellbinding.

Would love him to revive Edward Scissorhands or The Car Man.

Walkthroughthefire · 26/04/2019 22:53

Is it only in London? Is it touring? I loved his nutcracker

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 26/04/2019 22:54

Yes loved it.

Spinnaret · 26/04/2019 23:02

Wlakthroughthefire it is touring. I am going to Working with DS13 on Thursday. He has never been to the ballet. Hopefully, he will enjoy.

CourageCalls · 26/04/2019 23:12

I saw it last month it was incredible! Without doubt the most mesmerising thing I have ever seen. The main swan WOW!

AngeloMysterioso · 26/04/2019 23:33

I took my mum to see that at Sadler’s Wells about 10 years ago. It is incredibly powerful.
