Any other miserable bastards out there wishing it would rain all day tomorrow?

I’m absolutely knackered, I work part time (lucky I know) one DS aged 10, I find Easter holidays exhausting. I don’t take any extra leave so I do the usual juggle of work and organising childcare. Childcare comes from my friends and then I return the favour on my days off and have their kids. We’ve had another full day out today and all I want to do tomorrow is stay under the duvet, cook a roast dinner and watch films but of course the bloody sun’s out to spoil it all so I’ll have to make a picnic (which means a trip to the shops) pack the car up and drive at least an hour to the coast. Poor me 😤😉

Do you have a paddling pool? Fill that and have a picnic in the garden?

ineedaholidaynow · 20/04/2019 16:25

We are having a roast and keeping away from any tourist hotspots tomorrow.

We live in an area which is popular with tourists so avoid going anywhere if possible at times like this.

gotmychocolateimgood · 20/04/2019 16:34

Also staying at home this weekend. DS and I have a tummy bug but we would have anyway. Local tourist attraction has 2 miles of traffic gridlocked every morning until lunchtime to get in. We have annual passes but waiting for a quieter day. I know the weather is lovely but it's not appealing visiting places with so many other people. DS is having a great time playing in the bath, DH has taken DD out on her bike as they're both fine. Bank Holiday days out are overrated imo.

Dowser · 20/04/2019 16:36

Noooooo family bbq at our caravan

Beanybye · 20/04/2019 16:36

I do have a paddling pool but it’s not much fun for DS on his own and I expect all his mates will be busy.

I like the idea of going somewhere that no one else will be going to but where? National trust, parks and beaches will be rammed.

We're cooking a full roast dinner tomorrow. I fancy a day in, ideally in bed all morning reading a book and then pottering about the house. Can't be bothered with sunny weather! It makes me feel like I should take the kids to the beach or country park but I so prefer to be at home chilling out. Sunny weather always makes me on edge because I feel guilty for not being somewhere doing fun outdoorsy stuff. When it rains I relax.

Singlenotsingle · 20/04/2019 17:55

It's not going to rain. It's going to sunshine gloriously! Hasn't DS got a friend that you can invite over to enjoy the paddling pool?

Bluesheep8 · 20/04/2019 18:05

I hate hot sunny weather too. I have psoriasis and the sun is so good for it but using any kind of sun protection causes a flare up so I'm stuck. And uncomfortable and itchy Hmm

Beanybye · 20/04/2019 18:07

Singlenotsingle lots of friends yes but as I said,I expect they’ll all be busy with it being the bank holiday.

Our plan is lazy morning, roast dinner and then a drive up into the mountains and a walk up the tops.

Stay home in the lovely cool, I don't get the compulsion people have to out when the sun shines. Unless you can go to somewhere nice and quiet on foot or on non busy public transport ( not very likely) you will be happier inside.

RebootYourEngine · 20/04/2019 18:28

I would just do as you please.

I always feel like i should be doing something when the sun is out but today i decided to have a day at home and now i have changed the way i think.

Tomorrow i will be working as usual. In scotland we dont pay much attention to Easter.

Pigpogtastic · 20/04/2019 18:31

You really don’t have to go out just because the sun is out. We spent today at home watching films. There will be more sunny days. And everyone benefits from a day off every now and then.

Fatted · 20/04/2019 18:34

We've been pretty lazy all weekend. Staying at home in the morning, playing out in the garden, we did the park yesterday and did a nature park this afternoon after the traffic had died down. Planning another lazy morning tomorrow and then visiting family.

We live just off the only main dual carriageway in North Wales so bank holidays are always a fucking nightmare with traffic and I hate going out unless I have to. The five minute journey to Asda always turns into half an hour.

ValleyoftheHorses · 20/04/2019 18:36

We were at a National Trust today. It was busy but because it’s so big, the only times we noticed were the parking and ice cream queue.
Please don’t let it rain - need sunshine after not seeing sun for 6 months!

Sexnotgender · 20/04/2019 18:38

No! I’ve got family coming for dinner and want to drink gin in the garden.

beela · 20/04/2019 18:44

I wish we could drive to the coast in an hour!

isseywithcats · 20/04/2019 18:48

i have been looking at our motorbike shrouded in its cover all bloody winter and we are going riding tomorrow with friends so no way do i want rain tomorrow a sunday off and a great day out planned

midsomermurderess · 20/04/2019 18:54

God no. It has been such a long winter, so bloody cold and windy. I want, no I deserve, sunshine and warmth.

ReginaGeorgeous · 20/04/2019 18:55

I do. Normally I love weather like this and under normal circumstances I'd have spent the afternoon in the garden and now that it's DD's bedtime I'd be thinking about cracking open an ice cold bottle of sauvignon blanc. However, I am currently 40+1 and being this pregnant in the warm is not fun. I've spent the last two days waddling to the sodding park.

HopeMatters · 20/04/2019 18:55

Me. I give not a single fuck about Easter. I've bought eggs for the kids, is that not enough??

jomaIone · 20/04/2019 18:57

Why does the sun bring out the misery guts in so many people??

Just because the sun's out, doesn't mean you can't do whatever you want. Even if you do to out somewhere, your DS will still be on his own so does it really matter?

Most people will want the sun. It makes most people happy.

safariboot · 20/04/2019 18:59

all I want to do tomorrow is stay under the duvet, cook a roast dinner and watch films

That's basically what I'm planning on doing tomorrow. Well, it'll be a Bolognese not a roast.

If you feel obliged to do something sunshiney, I'm sure you can spend a token half hour weeding the garden.

WhiteDust · 20/04/2019 19:06

Go out EARLY. We left for a NT place this morning at 8.30 and got there at 9am just as the park was opening. Had the place to ourselves until 10ish. It was rammed by 12. Ate picnic lunch and came home.
You could do similar. Beach early, leave 1ish. Rest of day at home 🏠

Poddingtonp · 20/04/2019 19:10

I enjoy sunny days but the heat makes me tired and headachy. I actually prefer weekdays when I’m at work and then maybe have an hour in the evening when it’s not so warm.
Also the pressure to be out enjoying it on days like this is too much, it’s too busy everywhere.
I’d like a rainy bank holiday in May please !

Cailleach · 20/04/2019 19:29

No - I've got a shed to build.
