Not at all guilty, but lack the 'child'care to look after them overnight even as teens. 15 year old is autistic and won't tolerate many mother substitutes. Fortunately one of those is his dad! So while we don't get to go away as a couple very often I do get some time away with friends.

I loved my parents going away when I was a teenager. It made me feel very grown up.

Yes, DH and I for a week, kids looked after by grandparent. We flew abroad, got some winter sun in a kid-free hotel. Honestly, it set me up for the year ahead.

The kids did miss us though and we weren't really able to ring home due to cost and time difference, we did WhatsApp a bit. Now my youngest always asks if DH and I are staying if Granny comes to visit Grin

Nah, don’t feel guilty. We took the kids abroad last summer but also went away, just the two of us. It was amazing! We were gone for 5 days.
