£5.10 for an adult, £2.60 for a child, under 5s free.

Your sounds bloody expensive.

Aragog · 14/04/2019 10:06

If you buy a special card at £3 a year:

Adult: £4.80
Junior: £2.80
Family (2 adults, 3 children): £15
Small family (1 adult, 2 children; 2 adults, 1 child) : £9.20

If no card, add on £3 for adults, £1.50 for child.

KaterinaPetrova · 14/04/2019 10:06

Bloody hell! Ours about £4 for an adult and around £2.10 for a child I think? And during the school summer holidays the council provide free swimming for all local children with a free packed lunch afterwards two days a week. The school pta pays for the primary kids to have unlimited free swimming too and with a free adult if under 8.
Those who pay for swimming lessons also have unlimited free swimming all year round.

LizzyBennett · 14/04/2019 10:06

£3.70 for an adult
£1.85 for a child

Children are free on the weekend and during school holidays

eclipse1808 · 14/04/2019 10:07

That’s ridiculous I thought ours was bad! £6.80 for an adult £4.10 for a child (any child even when DS was 3 months old!) or they do one parent and toddler session a week (but anyone who works won’t be free at the time) for £8 which includes the parent and toddler up to 4

KaterinaPetrova · 14/04/2019 10:08

And all under 18's have free swimming on Thursdays 5-8pm.

Violetroselily · 14/04/2019 10:08

£5.20 for an adult
£2.90 for a child

£32.50 a month for adult swim membership which can be used at any Better leisure centre (I'm in London so lots of facilities near by)

Yours is very expensive

GwenCooper81 · 14/04/2019 10:10

Exactly the same as Aragog. Yours sounds so expensive.

Sawyershair · 14/04/2019 10:11

Bloody hell, why is ours so expensive?!!

Was going to take the DC for a swim, glad I checked first to see how much it was!

We don't have one Confused

The nearest (about 15 miles away) is
£4.60 adult
£2.50 child
£3.30 adult concession
£1.90 child concession (not sure what this constitutes?)

They also do a prepay scheme which is 12 for 10 and can be used anytime over a 12 month period

anothermansmother · 14/04/2019 10:16

£3.50 for an adult and kids are free. ( up to 16) except when they have the pool inflatable sessions and they then cost £1

ABC1234DEF · 14/04/2019 10:16

See!

Spectator fee? I'd rather sit there with my eyes closed than pay £1!

Sawyershair · 14/04/2019 10:18

And if it’s busy it’s a banding system and you get 1hr 10mins for that money! Angry

OP posts:
happyhillock · 14/04/2019 10:21

Very expensive
£5.50 for an adult
£3.50 for over 5's

Pascha · 14/04/2019 10:21

Adults £6.80 peak/£5.60 off-peak
Kids £4.40 peak/£3.70 off-peak.

Kids go free if they have swimming lessons via DD.

fussychica · 14/04/2019 10:22

I can't find the cost of swimming at our sports centre just a day pass is £6.75 which gives all day access to pool and gym.

NobodysBlackerThanMe · 14/04/2019 10:24

£2.50 for adults, £1.90 for kids.

Thesearmsofmine · 14/04/2019 10:26

That’s so expensive! Here it is £1 for children(and they offer you a swim nappy if you need one) and I think £3.45 for an adult.
My older two are free as they have their swimming lessons there.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/04/2019 10:27

£7 adult
£4 child

anangalou · 14/04/2019 10:28

I have a monthly swim only pass through Active Nation - £22. I think it's £4.50 to go otherwise.

anangalou · 14/04/2019 10:29

And that's unlimited swim at 2 nearby council pools.

Raisinbrain · 14/04/2019 11:38

We're in Australia but our local council pool is £3.10 for one adult adult and £2.25 for one child, £1.95 for each additional child and £2.80 for additional adults.

DGRossetti · 14/04/2019 11:59

Is it council run ?

The only way we'd have a local municipal pool (Birmingham) is by the council basically letting a private company run it. Fees are c. £5 per adult. But every time you go there's an attempt to sign you up to the gym (which is where they make their money).

It's quite blatant. Almost all the seating in the foyer is "reserved for people enquiring about membership".

You can guess from my haziness about the charge I don't use it. Instead I hop to the other local pool which is in Dudley. They charge £4.40 per adult session, but you can get a monthly pass for £28 which gives unlimited swims. So when I hit my thrice-weekly swim, it's a big saving.

The UK is pisspoor for swimming pools. Really "swimming pools" as I don't count 25m pools (which is pretty much 90%. The pool I use in Dudley is 33m.

There is a 50m attached to Birmingham university, but that's no riff-raff, so out of bounds.

Maybe there would be more provision for swimming if it wasn't such a useless exercise. Especially in a country that's pretty fit to start with. I guess it depends on whether you view swimming as a life skill or not. I do, but I guess most don't.
