How long could you run for if zombies were chasing you?

Reckon after 12 minutes I'd be done Grin and after vomming, I'd have to resign myself to a gory fate.

Supposedly there's adrenaline and survival instinct etc but am cynical. Genuinely feel like I'm going to die after a certain point when running. Even as a child, I was slooowww (however, could still keep ahead of most zombies, apart from the especially speedy types possibly) although I did have great stamina back then.

How about you? Do you think you'd find a burst of speed and endurance and could keep going like a machine, or would you be a goner?

Can zombies climb? I'd go vertical rather than horizontal I think. Then I could throw acorns at them from up high, acorns kill zombies don't they?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/04/2019 19:51

”I’m the fatty that would be eaten first”

Ohhhh no, @SiliconHeaven - I am pretty sure that will be me. Frankly, my role in the family zombie escape plan is Bait. And there is a fighting chance that eating me will catastrophically increase their cholesterol and kill them all over again.

KnitterOfSocks · 13/04/2019 19:52

Slow zombies, I could manage 2.5-3 hours. But I am marathon ready at the moment (tomorrow eeeek)

I am no sprinter though...

DeadCertain · 13/04/2019 19:53

I have run a fairly long way multiple times (154 or so miles my longest) so think I'd have a fair - ish chance (and am not tooooo shabby speed - wise over short stuff either). Perhaps I am a zombie myself but just don't realise it....

Willow2017 · 13/04/2019 19:54

Only till I could trip someone else up for Zombie bait!

As avid zombie officionadoes me and kids would put up a good fight/escape plan so wouldnt need to run far. Just mow them down in the car till we got there.
(not talking WWZ zombies are we?)

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 13/04/2019 19:56

According to C25K, 28 minutes 😁

Wouldn't be running though tbf. I'd be turning around and fighting back!

chutneypig · 13/04/2019 19:56

The longest I’ve run without stopping is two and half hours. But they’d have to be zombies of the shuffling sort, what I was doing by the end of the run was probably a breech of running trade description ....

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 13/04/2019 19:56

About five minutes (if that) and likely would have pissed myself a bit after 30seconds, although probably wouldn't care in those circumstances. I'd be more likely to hole up somewhere with a weapon.

Billballbaggins · 13/04/2019 19:57

The zombies would get me pretty much straight away!

evilharpy · 13/04/2019 19:58

There’s a great app called Zombies, Run. You can actually test this out! A decent amount of content is free and it’s a good laugh albeit quite creepy if you’re out on your own at night.

It would depend on how fast the zombies were. If they were slow and stumbling around and an 11 minute mile jog would be quick enough to evade them I could probably go for a couple of hours. I doubt they’d bother with me though, I don’t sleep very well so already look like one of them most of the time.

JollyAndBright · 13/04/2019 20:00

Yes it entirely depends whether they are Romero/walking dead reanimated corpse type zombies or the resident evil/world war Z infected type.

The former I think it would be quite easy to outrun/outwit them in a smaller number, a horde may be slightly more tricky.
The latter I think out running them would be incredibly difficult for virtually everyone.

evilharpy · 13/04/2019 20:00

Website for the app in case anyone is interested. I have no connection to it, I just think it’s fun.

TheRumor · 13/04/2019 20:01

I can sprint pretty fast for a fat lass, so if it comes to evading I could get away from slow running zombies pretty quick!

If they are like the quick sprinting 28 days later zombies, I'm done.

Grundtal · 13/04/2019 20:01

About 2 1/2 minutes but I have an e tensive collection of vinyl so that will buy me a bit more time.

Bishalisha · 13/04/2019 20:02

I can’t physically run, which is why I would rather a fast zombie than a slow one (get it over and done).

It’s alreasy been agreed with the family that in a zombie apocalypse, I will take one for the team whilst the rest escape.

Thecatisboss · 13/04/2019 20:02

2 hours 20 mins as that's how long it took me to run a half marathon last year (& I'm trying to maintain my fitness) so I'm another one requesting slow shuffling zombies as I'm not a fast runner.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/04/2019 20:05

20-30 minutes. They’d have to be the slow shuffling kind though.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 13/04/2019 20:07

Good luck! Probably 3-4 hours here. Thought it would be very slow.

SandAndSea · 13/04/2019 20:08

I'd be relying on my wits hiding.

Thecatisboss · 13/04/2019 20:11

Good luck tomorrow @KnitterOfSocks

Muddytoes1 · 13/04/2019 20:12

39 weeks pregnant - would be eaten straight away, can barely walk. Though I do kind of walk like a slow type zombie at the mo so maybe if they were that kind they’d think I was one of them. @KnitterOfSocks, good luck!

NicoAndTheNiners · 13/04/2019 20:12

Normally I'd say at a steady pace I could do 1-2 hrs.

But currently in a plaster cast as I've broken my fibula due to too much running so I'd be toast. I can barely get from my sofa to the kitchen atm.

Athenajm80 · 13/04/2019 20:13

@evilharpy I love that app. I'm on season 5 now, it helped so much when I was trying to lose weight a few years ago. Hopefully it'll help me again as I've put all the weight back on so am starting a new exercise kick. I love Sam the best, oh and the guy who blows stuff up (can't remember his name)

KnitterOfSocks · 13/04/2019 20:14

Thank you! It's my first ever marathon - expecting it to take about 4.5 hours, I know I can do 3, the rest I'm just going to have to see...

Schlerp · 13/04/2019 20:14

It depends if they’re American zombies or British. The Americans all appear to be on speed (Ritalin?) and run like bolt but the Brits kinda shuffle and complain about it. If they were American zombies I’d be fucked and problably give in to conformity. If they were British I might shuffle off slightly faster than them and live to breath another day.
