What film could you watch over and over again?

ImHastingsDarling · 12/04/2019 22:13

I tend to only ever watch a film once with the exception of Kill Bill (1&2!) and Wolf of Wall Street.
I love watching these because I feel like I see something new each time I watch them.

Anyhoo. Am laid up in bed for a few days so would like to hear your recommendations for films that you could watch time and time again, if you please!

Generally 80's classics particularly Tom cruise and brat pack

Breakfast club
Cocktail
Top gun
Days of Thunder
Risky business
Goonies
Dirty dancing
Die hard franchise
Back to the future trilogy
Field of dreams
St Elmo's Fire
Heathers

Slightly more recent/moving on chronologically

pretty woman
Mission impossible franchise
Ghost
Scream franchise (though I prefer the original trilogy) I can quite easily and happily fall asleep while scream 1 is on
Copycat
LA Confidential - fabulous film
Independence Day
Men in black franchise
Speed (just the first one)
Pitch perfect franchise (and unexpected delight)
The wedding date
About time
Armageddon
Enemy of the state
What to expect when you're expecting
Knight and day - love it, total popcorn nonsense but very easy to watch and funny

Generally though the older the better there's something very comforting about watching something you know so well you can recite the script

BunnyJumps · 13/04/2019 07:30

Home alone
Forrest Gump
Sound of Music
Santa Claus the Movie
Terminator
Trolls

JenniferJareau · 13/04/2019 07:35

@Graphista Someone else loves Copycat! I thought I was the only one.

Oblomov19 · 13/04/2019 07:41

Forest Gump
Green Mile
Shawshank Redemption
Schindlers List
Pretty Woman
Karate Kid.

ImHastingsDarling · 13/04/2019 11:26

Ooh I remembered another one I could watch again and again - Memento!

A Man for all Seasons

stucknoue · 13/04/2019 11:59

Pricilla Queen of the desert, rocky horror picture show, mamma Mia

heavenlypink · 13/04/2019 11:59

An old one but I love it - An Affair to Remember

DobbyLovesSocks · 13/04/2019 12:09

Pretty Woman - so many times in fact I can recite the film almost word for word. My fave scene is the one where Richards Gere kicks his attorney out the hotel room. He is sexy as hell with a body to die for (Gere that is, not the attorney)

I replaced the DVD a while back and it must have been the US version as there were some extra/deleted scenes that I hadn't seen - was like watching it for the first time all over again

FireCrotch · 13/04/2019 12:22

Leon.
What's Love Got To Do With It?
Hairspray (both versions)
E.T.
Beaches
Falling Down
Critters Grin
The Rescuers
Pinocchio
Working Girl

forsucksfake · 13/04/2019 13:22

What About Bob?
The asking of Comedy
Goodfellas

JenniferJareau · 14/04/2019 09:38

If Bill Murray is in it, it is likely I'll love it.

Ghostbusters is my fave film of all time, I am in a group where they post still from the film and we start reciting the lines Blush

Lollyice · 14/04/2019 09:42

Bridget Jones, all 3
Chocolat
Harry Potter

MooBaaLaLaLa · 14/04/2019 09:43

Blues Brothers!

Sunshine196 · 14/04/2019 09:46

I’m going to get totally slated for this but I absolutely love Mama Mia 2 🤣 it’s so bad it’s good and I adore Andy Garcia. He & Cher at the end are hilarious!
I also love Bad Moms.
To note, I’m not a teenager, I’m nearly 40, I just love cheesy films.

HotChocolateLover · 14/04/2019 09:49

Back to the Future
Pretty Woman
Love Actually
Titanic
Ready Player one
Baby Driver
Green Mile
Shawshank Redemption
Legally Blonde

Sorry hard to choose one but if I HAD to it would be..... Pretty Woman.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/04/2019 09:54

Clueless - the best version of Emma so far
Grosse Pointe Blank - dark and very funny
Heathers - also dark and very funny
L A Confidential - it's so complicated that I find something new in it every time I watch it
Serenity - Firefly with added Chiwetel Ejiofor, he makes my heart flutter
Mr & Mrs Smith - bit embarrassed about that, but it's an anonymous forum Grin

Ragwort · 14/04/2019 09:59

None Confused, I enjoy watching a film but I couldn’t imagine watching the same one twice, occasionally I will sit through a film I’ve already seen at Christmas for the sake of being sociable but I just don’t enjoy seeing a film for the second time, I wish I did in a way, it must be nice to enjoy the experience again.

Stressedmummyof4 · 14/04/2019 10:08

This is a good one, but I have so many films I love.

My Christmas go to is always Home Alone, my kids and I often cuddle up on the couch to watch this.

For me my kind of films

Pretty woman
Dirty dancing
Top gun
Cocktail
Anything with Denziel Washington really this man is one of the best actors around.

For family we love chatty chatty bang bang, Mary poppins grown ups

Oh there's so many we love film nights.

Stressedmummyof4 · 14/04/2019 10:10

On Friday night once kids were in bed I watched The Blind Side. I would highly recommend. The film was based on a true story it was funny and very moving at parts. Deffo one to give a watch!

Thirtyrock39 · 14/04/2019 10:35

When Harry Met sally

JenniferJareau · 14/04/2019 10:55

The Blind Side was amazing.

I also love:

Deep Impact
Grease
Moonstruck
Signs
Tremors

Bluesheep8 · 14/04/2019 11:02

Labyrinth. I know it off by heart. And fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe. And the quiet man.

GrouchyKiwi · 14/04/2019 11:03

Star Wars (original trilogy)
Thor Ragnarok
Wonder Woman
The Importance of Being Earnest (with Rupert Everett and Colin Firth)
An Ideal Husband
Cold Comfort Farm
Firth & Ehle Pride & Prejudice (not a film, I know, but extremely rewatchable)
Jurassic Park & The Lost World
Empire Records
The Mummy (Weisz version)
What A Girl Wants

dudsville · 14/04/2019 11:04

Honestly, almost any of the films I've enjoyed I would watch on repeat, and do. There's something I find very comforting in watching a film I have previously enjoyed.
