Anyone seen The Book of Mormon? What did you think?

Hi,

Dp really wants to see this, so I'm thinking of taking them for their birthday.

I'm expecting it to be a bit close to the mark, but is it actually good? Be interested to hear some reviews.

Also, the seating is confusing me. It's in the Prince of Wales theatre and I've not been before. There are some (apparently) good seats available at the front of the circle. Is this the same as the balcony?

TIA

I like the soundtrack but found the actual musical just a little bluggh. Offensive for offensive sake. I also begrudged the amount I spent on the tickets as they were very pricey.

Cookiedoughforbreakfast · 13/04/2019 12:06

Comefrom, I can't seem to get to that website any other way than using your link. How come it's so much cheaper?... I'm paranoid now Grin

It’s cheaper because it’s the Book of Mormon London’s own website so if you book so many weeks in advance there is no booking fee or closer to the date minimal booking fee.

The other ticket agencies add their own booking fees on top.

It’s a theatre owned by Delfont Mackintosh so you can also access it via Delfont Macintosh theatres general website.

Loved it. Perhaps not one for the religious. Or those who clutch their pearls regularly

Comefrom, when I go to that website, the seat availability and prices is different to your first link Confused I'm confused! Grin

Sarah, haha why were you told off?!

Are you looking at the exact same dates. Mormon uses dynamic pricing so the same seat can cost more on a more popular night and the prices go up the closer you get to the show date.

thebookofmormonmusical.com/london/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr8uYy4DN4QIVLrXtCh1SxAYPEAAYASAAEgIj1_D_BwE

Just looked and the above which is my first link is the show website (so covers merchandise and everything else connected to the show whereas the Delfont Mac link is the theatre owners so although connected they sometimes have different allocations and booking fees.

Comefromaway · 13/04/2019 12:54

I’m a DMT plus member so I don’t pay booking fees at all.

Cookiedoughforbreakfast · 13/04/2019 12:55

Yes, that's why I'm confused. I must be going mad Blush

OP posts:
Comefromaway · 13/04/2019 12:56

The first link also sells tickets for Mormon productions across the world whereas the second is just DMT theatres.

staydazzling · 13/04/2019 12:57

I desperately want to see it,

Cookiedoughforbreakfast · 13/04/2019 13:27

Comefrom, thanks. Also, is it a different cast in Manchester? Because they have the same dates in June for London and Manchester.

OP posts:
Comefromaway · 13/04/2019 13:40

Yes, they will have a separate cast who will tour.

Hamilton is an amazing piece of theatre. Unlike anything I’d ever seen before

But no prizes for guessing my absolute favourite show.

Cookiedoughforbreakfast · 13/04/2019 15:11

Booked. Think I'm going to need to switch off my shock mode.

It's definitely a marmite thing. DH loved it. I found some of it funny/ clever, but honestly a show made up of this type of humour wore on me. But then I found south park unfunny...

MenuPlant · 13/04/2019 17:36

Loved it.

I do like south park a lot though and some of the humour is like that > puerile in parts BUT overall it is so funny AND the songs and the way they are performed are brilliant right from the off the opening song is brilliant and it's all good from there.

DH is not a "musicals" type (pre conceived ideas which aren't unfair when webber's are the most famous in UK) and her REALLY enjoyed it.

I would say go I would go again and may do actually when I've saved up!

Comefromaway · 13/04/2019 17:37

You see I don’t like South Park but I do like Avenue Q.

tisonlymeagain · 13/04/2019 17:40

Very funny but not for the easily offended amongst us!

cauliflowersqueeze · 13/04/2019 17:42

I’ve been 3 times with 3 different sets of friends. 2 sets of friends found it utterly hilarious. The last set were a bit shocked/disgusted by it in places

Crazyeyes3 · 13/04/2019 17:45

It is the best!!

MenuPlant · 13/04/2019 17:52

I would also say that for me the interesting thing was how it includes (obviously) the beliefs of the Mormons, I had no idea what they were, about their specific beliefs, so that was eye opening to say the least!!!
