Fancied going to the cinema tonight and as we’ve seen a lot already wondered what pet sematary was about.

Now I know and it sounds beyond grim.
You’d have to tie me to a chair and have the streets filled with zombies outside before I could do that.

Could you watch it?will you go to see it?

I like all horror films so yes, probably!

I couldn’t and wouldn’t watch this or any horror movie, because I’m a complete wuss.

adulthumanwolf · 11/04/2019 15:06

I've seen it, it was good fun. Not as good as the original or book and I wasn't keen on the new ending.

Probably. Usually Stephen King books make for shitty movies but I'm an optimist.

LividLaughLove · 11/04/2019 15:07

@ohyesiam OP was right, it’s “sematary” after the Stephen King book “Pet Sematary”, spelled that way.

OP, I’ve read the book, seen the original film and seen this new one. It’s a pile of shite, but not because of the story!

Dowser · 11/04/2019 15:07

Ohyesiam
Ohnoitisnt!
It’s
Sematary
Honest 😂

@Ohyesiam - it is Sematary, it's based on the Stephen King book, where the people who made the pet cemetary mispelled the sign.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new one - saw the original loads growing up and it was so so scary (probably still one of my top scary films), although the new one looks quite different in terms of some story bits. I think being an adult with a family now, some of the story would really upset me, but I do really want to see it.

megletthesecond · 11/04/2019 15:08

No.
But I can't watch any horror films these days. I was fine as a teen but won't touch them anymore.

WhoTFIsAlanBrazil · 11/04/2019 15:09

I remember the book giving me nightmares as a teen, so no

Then again I am a self confessed wuss when it comes to horror stories

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 11/04/2019 15:09

Not sure I could. The book creeped me out!

Fatted · 11/04/2019 15:09

@Ohyesiam I think the incorrect spelling is actually intentionally the name of the film if I remember from the original.

I saw the original up until the obvious moment when you can see how the story line is going to unfold. Think big truck and toddler unsupervised outside. I had to turn it off. And I'm not easily bothered. But I was watching this with an 2 YO child at the time.

Jinglejanglefish · 11/04/2019 15:09

Ohyesiam

No it's semetary in the book, I can't remember the details but I think it because a child has written 'pet semetary' at the place the book is about.

That is the correct spelling for the film and, indeed, the original novel.

BettysLeftTentacle · 11/04/2019 15:09

@ohyesiam the film is called Pet Semetary. As is the book.

OP, I only like a couple of Stephen King books and this wasn’t one of them unfortunately. I might leave the film until it comes out on Netflix. and watch it in the day time

Ohyesiam · 11/04/2019 15:10

Ooh, I do beg your pardonBlushBlushBlush

PlatinumBrunette · 11/04/2019 15:10

I wouldn't even listen to DD's explanation of it. Hate horror movies.
She came back from watching it and wouldn't let her cat out of her sight for hours!

Cocolapew · 11/04/2019 15:10

DD went to see it and said it was scary but enjoyed it.
Shes 17 btw and enjoys horror film.

LemonRedwood · 11/04/2019 15:11

To answer OP's question, no I won't watch.

I used to love horror but have got much wussier as I've got older and things stay with me for so long now! I prefer being able to sleep Grin

Dowser · 11/04/2019 15:12

I managed a few when I was younger but I think once you’ve given birth it does something to your brain
Glad others like them... I think
I feel a bit sorry for dh... he’d quite happily watch it
But then he’s never given birth ...

TeaStory · 11/04/2019 15:12

No, @Ohyesiam, it’s “Sematary”.

I’ve read the book, I doubt I’ll go to see the film. I’ll wait until I can see it at home so I can run away!

megletthesecond · 11/04/2019 15:13

I remember someone on MN summarising the last couple of pages of the book Shock.

TeaStory · 11/04/2019 15:13

Apologies @Ohyesiam I’m a slow typist on my phone and cross-posted, I didn’t mean to pile on.

BettysLeftTentacle · 11/04/2019 15:13

Agreed @Dowser. Since having kids, horror is mostly off the menu for me too which is a shame because I used to enjoy horror films pre-children.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 11/04/2019 15:14

No I wouldn’t because of a part of the story I don’t want to have to see again.

I’ve read the book and seen the previous film though.

thenightsky · 11/04/2019 15:19

Its the scariest book I've ever read. It really freaked me out. I did go to see the film last week and can say it is nowhere near as frightening as the book.
