My 3 year old and I are locked in a battle, who will crack first? (lighthearted)

She won't tidy her toys until I make her a cup of tea

I won't make her a cup of tea until she tidies her toys as I know she still won't tidy her toys if I make them.

There isn't many toys to put away; a book, a doll and some cars.

This has been going on since Nursery finished at lunchtime. I occasionally get asked "you make me cup of tea now?" I say not until toys are away, she says no, and goes back to sitting on the sofa with the cat....

Who will crack first?

We had a strap line in our house We do not negotiate with terrorists purely to deal with preschoolers.

At seven plus you can do mutually agreeable solutions, but not before!

Ohh she's upping her game.

You need to up yours. Ruminate to yourself about the biscuit you'll have with the tea.

I think they use three year olds in terrorist negotiation training. It's the final stage as it's the toughest. Few pass.

Be more 3 Grin

I need to adopt this as my personal mantra. 3 is a level of mental toughness and refusal to be cowed I can only aspire to.

"I tidy when I have finished tea"

I would take her negotiation skills as a comment on what a great job I'd done raising a genius. You really cannot fault her style. Smile

Is anyone else picturing her stroking a white cat?

Report
FreezerBird · 09/04/2019 17:32

Oh she's good, isn't she?

Definitely make your own tea and enjoy extravagantly in the same room as her.

Would a race work? Bet you can't get the toys put away before I finish making the tea?

Say “Ok I have tidied so I will have a cup of tea. You can have a cup of tea too if you tidy.”

Grin She sounds brilliant! 3 is the peak age for human ability to be stubborn and simply not give in I think. She's going to win!

Make her a cup of tea. Put it where she can see it. But tell her she cannot have any until the toys are tidied away. And it will be a big shame if it goes cold.

Meanwhile, you will drink your own, hot cup of tea, and watch her.

She's definitely very clever

Maybe she can take over leading our country, she sounds like she knows how to negotiate better than most politicians. I'll think of you fondly in 10 years time, imagine how good she will be at answering you back as a teen. Grin

This is hilarious! I'm cuddling DS, safe in the knowledge that we've got another 2.5 years to go before we hit the terrorist stageGrin
