My 3 year old and I are locked in a battle, who will crack first? (lighthearted)

She won't tidy her toys until I make her a cup of tea

I won't make her a cup of tea until she tidies her toys as I know she still won't tidy her toys if I make them.

There isn't many toys to put away; a book, a doll and some cars.

This has been going on since Nursery finished at lunchtime. I occasionally get asked "you make me cup of tea now?" I say not until toys are away, she says no, and goes back to sitting on the sofa with the cat....

Who will crack first?

We had a strap line in our house We do not negotiate with terrorists purely to deal with preschoolers.

At seven plus you can do mutually agreeable solutions, but not before!

Mememeplease · 09/04/2019 17:21

Ohh she's upping her game.

You need to up yours. Ruminate to yourself about the biscuit you'll have with the tea.

Happyspud · 09/04/2019 17:24

@timeforabiscuit yes. 4 kids under 5. #3 especially can give us all a run for our money.

I think they use three year olds in terrorist negotiation training. It's the final stage as it's the toughest. Few pass.

Cheesymonster · 09/04/2019 17:29

Man, she's good.

reefedsail · 09/04/2019 17:30

We do not negotiate with terrorists

MotherofPearl · 09/04/2019 17:30

Be more 3 Grin

I need to adopt this as my personal mantra. 3 is a level of mental toughness and refusal to be cowed I can only aspire to.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 09/04/2019 17:31

"I tidy when I have finished tea"

I would take her negotiation skills as a comment on what a great job I'd done raising a genius. You really cannot fault her style. Smile

Cheesymonster · 09/04/2019 17:32

Is anyone else picturing her stroking a white cat?

FreezerBird · 09/04/2019 17:32

Oh she's good, isn't she?

Definitely make your own tea and enjoy extravagantly in the same room as her.

IsolaPribby · 09/04/2019 17:35

Would a race work? Bet you can't get the toys put away before I finish making the tea?

PinkStripedLeggings · 09/04/2019 17:36

Cat is grey not white I'd love a white cat though

Ooh she's fabulous, I want a 3 year old again.
I'd get yourself a brew on and bring out....The biscuits!

NoSquirrels · 09/04/2019 17:37

No tea for terrorists!

TeeBee · 09/04/2019 17:38

Oh, she's gooooood.

iklboo · 09/04/2019 17:39

'Let's have a race. I will make tea and you tidy toys and we'll see who is quickest. Winner gets a '

PinkStripedLeggings · 09/04/2019 17:39

Suggested she tidy while I make a cup of tea "No mummy that's not how it work, tea first"

She's definitely very clever Smile

LittleLongDog · 09/04/2019 17:43

Say “Ok I have tidied so I will have a cup of tea. You can have a cup of tea too if you tidy.”

BearSoFair · 09/04/2019 17:44

Grin She sounds brilliant! 3 is the peak age for human ability to be stubborn and simply not give in I think. She's going to win!

AwdBovril · 09/04/2019 17:44

Make her a cup of tea. Put it where she can see it. But tell her she cannot have any until the toys are tidied away. And it will be a big shame if it goes cold.

Meanwhile, you will drink your own, hot cup of tea, and watch her.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 09/04/2019 17:44

She's definitely very clever

Maybe she can take over leading our country, she sounds like she knows how to negotiate better than most politicians. I'll think of you fondly in 10 years time, imagine how good she will be at answering you back as a teen. Grin

navyismycolour · 09/04/2019 17:46

TBF, you cannot possibly be expected to do anything at this time of day without a nice cuppa.

PinkStripedLeggings · 09/04/2019 17:49

I've cracked!

She's watching bedtime hour with tea and the cat while I put her toys away Grin

This is hilarious! I'm cuddling DS, safe in the knowledge that we've got another 2.5 years to go before we hit the terrorist stageGrin
