It's a load of utter shit isn't it

StealthPolarBear · 01/04/2019 22:11

This has moved beyond a shambles. A new word wilm be invented. "I'm not going to his party, they're usually a pile of Brexit"

OP posts:
MyGastIsFlabbered · 01/04/2019 22:12

We're the laughing stock of Europe. What a shambles

StealthPolarBear · 01/04/2019 22:13

No no a shambles is too planned and orderly. This is a Brexit.

StealthPolarBear · 01/04/2019 22:13

Need to do some housework. I've been away all week and the house is a total brexit

OP posts:
BecauseYouAreWorthIt · 01/04/2019 22:14

Knife crime, little attention paid to anything else and they can't sort Brexit. Politicians are selfish clowns.

StealthPolarBear · 01/04/2019 22:18

I can't find those bbc flow charts, can anyone find one?

OP posts:
ssd · 01/04/2019 22:18

It's got so bad someone started a thread lady night saying they wished Ruth Davidson would return and sort brexit out.... Trust me, when someone in Scotland is wishing a tory would come along and sort things out, we know things then are REALLY bad...

StealthPolarBear · 01/04/2019 22:19

Ahh this is an April fools, right? Nice one Theresa, whip the real plan out.

OP posts:
brizzlemint · 01/04/2019 22:24

Dd tells me that the word Brexit is already in use at school, inefficient people couldn't organise a Brexit if you paid them.

ssd · 01/04/2019 22:28

But it's after 12 noon stealth, or has someone made a brexit of April fools day?

ssd · 01/04/2019 22:30

Honestly I'm in a min wage job, if I made such an arse of it as the government are making of this, I'd get the sack... Yet they're all still in work 😳😳😳

StealthPolarBear · 02/04/2019 07:22

I've often thought that :)

It's very demoralising isn't it. I do think they will come to an agreement though, next round of votes is tomorrow, Wednesday,

Ken Clarke's motion was only defeated by 3. And it's possible she will bring back her agreement with the option of a customs union attached, which was his proposal.

The issue is for me the way the government is behaving. They whipped against all options last night and told the cabinet to abstain as they don't like the fact parliament has taken control and the government didn't propose the options . To quote the loathsome Andrea Leadsom.

As ken Clarke said this whole fiasco could have been avoided if the government has done the indicative votes themselves as they promised, so it's all very petty and just adding the general chaos.

This whole thing will drag on until the last moment.

wheresmyhairytoe · 02/04/2019 07:39

What DO they actually want? Is this all about infighting and personal power trips?

I've tried to hard to be a proper grown up and to understand what's happening but I'm lost.

Bluntness100 · 02/04/2019 07:45

Th problem is they are not a hive mind. They all want something different. But they are all playing games,

Labour changed its mind yesterday from the customs one theybhad been backing to the Norway one, I assume to ensure nothing got through.

The Tories whipped against voting for anything as a way to show they were deeply unhappy with the fact parliament had taken control.

Some MPs in addition, are voting for nothing, simply rejecting every single motion put in front of them, be it revoke, any deal or no deal.

Other MPs are breaking their party whips, ensuring it's difficult to see what is occurring,

So right now they are still playing petty games. And that's the problem. They need to stop it.

StealthPolarBear · 02/04/2019 08:20

But we've had one last minute. Will this one be any more final?
Are you still confident no deal will not happen?

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 02/04/2019 08:46

Yes, no deal won't happen, even the prime minister voted against it, and even the media is now reporting it's highly unlikely, really they will just whittle down the options till they agree one and go for a delay next week.

Right now they are simply playing games and it's a terrible way to behave. And it will go on a bit longer. And worry a lot of people.

alwaysthepessimist · 02/04/2019 08:50

I don't understand all this - it's driving me mad - they are all so out for themselves they are really not looking at the bigger picture. At this point (and despite what the vote said) I really think we should cancel it, have a general election & then another EU referendum, if the majority is still leave then a working party needs to be set up and they decide what is best, this party needs to include 'normal' people too and all this toing & froing nonsense has got to stop, the working party need to decide on the best exit plan and it goes through, there's an old saying 'you can't please everyone all of the time but you can please some people some of the time' (or something like that) - whatever happens someone won't be happy but I can't see another way forward anymore.

Bluntness100 · 02/04/2019 08:59

I'm not sure I agree there needs to be a general election if I'm honest. I suspect it will make things a lot worse to throw that into the mix, and everyone is going to vote on this one hot button topic. So likely we will get a result no one wants.

Very few MPs actually want a general election either at this stage, it's just too chaotic to stop this and start campaigning.

I do think we will have a new prime minister shortly, as she will resign at some point, suspect she is trying to hold on until September. The reality is though for all the shouting, a lot of MPs don't want her to go, simply because the alternatives are so bad.

StealthPolarBear · 02/04/2019 14:05

Barnier is reporting it's getting increasingly likely. Of course it's in his interests to say that.
I agree a GE at this stage is just drawing out the pain and uncertainty.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 02/04/2019 18:22

Going for another extension. Sigh. I've had enough.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 02/04/2019 19:13

I did say no deal wouldn't happen,,,☺️

scaryteacher · 03/04/2019 01:44

That depends on Macron etc doesn't it though Bluntness? His European Minister is of the mind to refuse an extension, as is the caretaker Belgian PM, and Macron as well I think.

The PM can ask all she wants, but if they want us out of the way for the elections next month, then it's no extension.

Above all, the WA still has to go through before anything in the political declaration can be changed.

Bluntness100 · 03/04/2019 05:26

She will agree to the eu elections and then simply pull back when the time comes and the eu will be happy with this, she already knows that . The elections really aren't a big deal, no one has given a shit about them before. We aren't going to all be forced into no deal because of some eu elections. 🤣

Really the eu will agree the extension , they don't want no deal any more than we do.

I strongly suspect we will agree a customs union as the way forward. As per what Corbyn wants. And what ken Clarke proposed and was only defeated by three votes as she whipped against all motions.

Then we don't need the back stop as there is no hard borders. And if corbyn whips his party and she whips hers, even with rebels on both sides, it will be passed in the house. We will then exit with the withdrawal agreement (which Corbyn has no issue with, it's just the transition document) and then we will move to a customs union in two years as the future relationship.
