What do you call it?

The Peggy thing for socks 😀

BarbaraofSevillle · 30/03/2019 17:10

Used to be the sock hanger, but since Mumsnet made me buy an ikea Socktopus, I'm now eagerly awaiting my cheapy Morrisons version to break so I can get another Socktopus so the one we already have can have a friend.

The ikea ones are slightly more expensive but so much better made than those in Wilkos, pound shops etc, so hopefully they will last longer as we've had loads of cheap ones over the years and all the little pegs eventually fall off.

A Soft Grip Peg Smalls Dryer.

gigglingHyena · 30/03/2019 17:21

Sock hangers, seems that's just my family though since no one else has mentioned it.

Have to admit, once we got the IKEA octopus ones socktopus has crept in.

Fluffyears · 30/03/2019 19:04

Sock hanger here. We had a few plastic ones but they all broke eventually. So now we have a metal one, it's far more robust, though can nip your fingers if you're not careful!

elQuintoConyo · 30/03/2019 19:08

They were in Ever Decreasing Circles beanasereann i'm sure you'll find clips on Youtube, Penelope Wilton, wotsisface Tom Goode from the Good Life (total Saturday evening brainfart!)

A friend uses her socktopus in her darkroom for developing photos. I have used ours in the garden for drying DS' artwork. They're very useful and quite cheery.

blackteaplease · 30/03/2019 19:23

It's a peggy thing in our house. I didn't know you got stainless steel ones, much better than plastic which breaks eventually.

Lalallama · 30/03/2019 19:23

Ours is a 'sock hangy thing' but is a bit broken and held together with an elastic band.

Would it be insane to drive an hour each way to Ikea tomorrow to get a socktopus?

emwithme · 30/03/2019 19:29

Yes, it's a socktopus. His name is Sid.

SellFridges · 30/03/2019 19:53

Octopus socktopus

Oblomov19 · 30/03/2019 19:58

Never knew it had a name! We have one!

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/03/2019 20:00

In our house it's a sock carousel.

RedRiverShore · 30/03/2019 20:04

Sock hanger, I have the Wilko one

rednsparkley · 30/03/2019 20:06

It's a Socktopus at our house too.

Nicolastuffedone · 30/03/2019 20:14

I’ve got the metal one, I love it!! I call it the carousel thing.....

BlackPrism · 30/03/2019 23:23

Octopus

Clawdy · 30/03/2019 23:30

The Ikea socktopus is much stronger than the ones I've bought in the past from supermarkets, and much better quality. I've got three now!

Kpo58 · 31/03/2019 00:03

Socktopus Grin

IncyWincyGrownUp · 31/03/2019 00:20

Ikea one is socktopus, the non-ikea ones are pegamabobs.

BobBobBobbingAlong · 31/03/2019 00:32

The Peg Thing.
Mine is not as cute as the Ikea socktopus though. It's rectangular and functional.

MajesticWhine · 31/03/2019 02:15

How have I lived my life so far without one of these? Confused

WinterHeatWave · 31/03/2019 02:53

IKEA octopus here.
SellFridges cuckcoo-clocktopus Grin I dread to think how many times we read those books!
