Bread - I get a sliced loaf use a bit and then miraculously find room in the freezer for the rest, then buy another loaf to use before defrosting.
Milk - buy in 1 or 2 pints specifically to fit the freezer, the bigger ones for the fridge.
Salad - we grow a lot of the cut & come again salad leaves, so there's always a pot on the kitchen window ready to cut

Hanging basket tomatoes look great all summer - we've a couple outside the kitchen back door and you get tomatoes from about the end of May to October These are plentiful, always snatch a handful in passing

Bread, milk and all fruit. Our fruit bowl is filled on a Monday and empty by Thursday morning, not complaining as very happy dd and ds eat so much fruit happily. Probably loo roll too as I always seem to forget it whilst doing the big Monday shop!

DH will have a greenhouse full of cherry tomatoes as well some outside. But we'll still run out. In fact it is worse in summer when we just pick them as we walk by😃

I don't need to shop midweek since H left. I slice and freeze a loaf of bread and just take it out when I need it. If I run out I make it in the breadmaker overnight.

I only use 2 pints of semi skimmed milk a week in tea and coffee, DD uses Oatily Barista and Oatily Chocolate, there is always a supply in the pantry.

I do a once a week Ocado order and rarely shop in between.

We get milk from the milkman. Everything else lasts the week. Picking up stuff midweek is thankfully very rare. We freeze bread.

MitziK As the aforementioned Danish butter is only available at €6.80 for a small tub at the very expensive British store in Belgium, then I stock up when I go back to the UK, and freeze it. I cannot grasp why at Carrefour in Oman I could buy Lurpak in every available variant, yet I can't get it in Belgium.

I came back with a very stuffed car with the back seats, down, so I bought a tad more than Lurpak. The cheddar here is €24.50 per kg (approx £21). I can get it for £9.50 per kg at Sainsbury. The differential in the cheddar, as I buy loads, just about covers the ferry fare.
