DD and her friend are having a sleepover and want to watch a 'scary film'

Any suggestions?

(I will check with friends mum too)

Corpse Bride by Tim Burton. Addams Family, both films.

No way would I let a 10 year old watch The Woman in Black. DS2 saw it at the theatre with school aged 15 and was pretty frightened by it.

I remember seeing Arachnophobia on TV with dh years ago. I thought it was really funny but dh had to leave the room as he was too scared of the spiders!

Stranger things is a 15.

Wow, we are pretty relaxed among our group having let DC watch Gremlins, Ghostbusters etc at 7/8 but I’d be horrified at 10 year old watching It, Stranger Things or Woman in Black!

The Witches is great but I think probably might be regarded as babyish by boys? Love the Addams Family but it’s fun not scary, really.

I’d go Jaws, Gremlins or Ghostbusters.

DH showed my two 'The Watcher in the Woods's at around a similar age. They loved it. It's a film he remembers from his childhood. Old and dated, but good!

My dd when she was 11 enjoyed The Addams Family and Ghostbusters, found The witches scary, and my 9yo has just watched the last Harry Potters which aren't horror as such but scary...? I would deffo not let mine watch It or any of the other 'horror' films mentioned at 10yo. My 13yo was asking about Pet Semetary, we might let her watch the new one when its on TV ie in a year! I just don't think these films are suitable for 10 yo. The world is a dark place but I don't think children really need explore all that entails until they are teens and have a better emotional handle on themselves.
