If you were 50+ and a size 14/16, what would you wear to a rave?!

As we are going to one in about a month. It's a 45th birthday party and it's a proper full on rave, not fancy dress.

Confused

Don't dress up as 'a raver' if it's not fancy dress you won't be able to relax all night (unless you're the type who finds mood through costume in which case go for it).

Just wear something comfy you can dance in / whatever you'd usually wear to go out.

Btw I'm speaking as an unreformed raver who never wears day glo or acid house smiley t-shirts Smile

Is it warehouse or legit?

Best warehouse rave I ever went to I was passed a... ahem... roll-up... by a dude in combats and a black web vest with the most dreadlocks I have ever seen in one place. After I... politely refused.... I turned to my left to see a portly gentleman in later middle age, with small glasses and an immaculate suit, complete with waistcoat, bow tie and patent leather shoes. He took the 'roll-up' with a polite nod, toked hard, and sent it onwards.

Real parties have no dress code.

Me in the 90s - combat trousers, mesh shirt, push up bra and bonkers hair. Or an incredibly short, tight, stretchy dress and cycling shorts. Skating shoes for dancing.

I looked gorgeous. Now I'd look like someone's mum, which is what I am!

Trekkingbeyond · 29/03/2019 16:06

Oh I'm full of envy! 😁

anniehm · 29/03/2019 16:06

Black for sure, I have a velvet top that laces at the back and maybe a black short(ish) skirt but I'm more rock & grunge!

Blue5238 · 29/03/2019 16:13

I'm 42 and went to a rave 40th party last month. I wore jeans, t-shirt, trainers

PinkOboe · 29/03/2019 16:19

Deffo not a jumpsuit (see loo issues)

You want some hareem / loose, thin joggers and a tight t- shirt. Supportive underwear and good deodorant

FrozenMargarita17 · 29/03/2019 16:21

@wigglypiggly people would need to be lobotomised if they saw me in anything like that

FrankiesKnuckle · 29/03/2019 16:25

Go comfy! Stans, slim jeans and casual top.

I'm 46 and I still go raving (proper)
Just enjoy it or don't go 😎

AltogetherAndrews · 29/03/2019 16:56

I’m in my 40’s and still go to raves.

Definitely not the jumpsuit, you are aiming for casual. Black skinny jeans, plain t shirt, trainers. The young ones will dress up, but the older ones don’t, just there to dance. Going dressy will make you look like you are trying too hard.

Fazackerley · 29/03/2019 17:06

I'm hoping I will enjoy it once I've got over feeling like a plum.

Glow sticks and a whistle - aceeeiiiid !!

gotmychocolateimgood · 29/03/2019 17:10

Can I come please?

LikeACowsOpinion · 29/03/2019 17:52

You may find something on one of these sites. Some of the stuff is a bit nuts but there are perfectly nice clothes too.

If you were 50+ and a size 14/16, what would you wear to a rave?!
Bonkersblond · 29/03/2019 17:58

Can I come? Love a good rave and I’m 52, be quite nostalgic. I wouldn’t try to hard on what to wear, some decent jeans, vest T-shirt, nice jewellery and a cross body bag.

Atalune · 29/03/2019 17:58

Jeans
Trainers
Top- for a rave up I would wear a log t-shirt like a CHOOSE LIFE one.
Good bum bag
Face glitter

No whistles!! Whistles make other people quite stabby.

Vicks vapour rub though......Wink

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 29/03/2019 18:00

White gloves!

francienolan · 29/03/2019 18:59

I thought the whole point of surviving past the age of 23 was that you didn't have to go to raves anymore? Wink

Palominoo · 29/03/2019 19:22

Ideas here from one of my favourite songs

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 29/03/2019 19:27

Oh god. A jumpsuit in a portaloo?

Big fish. Little fish. Cardboard box

poseybobblehat · 29/03/2019 19:31

My raver gear was a catsuit decorated in daisies, a bomber jacket and pink Fila trainers, I thought I was the bees knees, though it was 1991 and I was 17 !

museumum · 29/03/2019 19:34

For authenticity compat trousers but in 2019 based on my actual wardrobe probably skinnies trainers and layered tops - a bright racer back vest or crop with a wide necked slouchy oversized tee on top. Maybe bias cut. A great pendant and lots of thread/cord/leather wrist bands.

tabulahrasa · 29/03/2019 19:35

Jeans and a nice vest top...comfy shoes.

I’m 40’s, but that’s what I’m wearing next week to a ravey thing, and what I wore to the last two, lol
