Don't you think Theresa May looks really ill with her puffy face, I almost feel sorry for her (almost).

Well I guess I said it all in the title. Compare how she looks now with just a couple of years ago. I voted remain, would love to see Article 50 revoked and think this whole Brexit thing has been a shit show from start to... well not even finished yet. But I do wonder at the toll it must take on the health of those right at the top. I wonder how much sleep she gets and whether she has much appetite or whether she comfort eats.

Maybe the puffy face is down to drugs of some sort, keeping her going.

Of course if she'd admitted a year ago she was out of her depth and didn't have a clue how to resolve things, she could have been sitting on a beach with a cocktail alongside David Cameron, laughing at all of us. But still she ploughs on (for now).

Why do I worry about the health of people I don't really even like?!

It's well known that she has Type 1 diabetes. So she probably can't comfort eat. And yes, I suppose she does take 'drugs of some sort, to keep her going '.

DuggeesWoggle · 29/03/2019 08:12

I didn't know she had type 1 - well that must take a lot of managing when working all hours and under considerable stress.

Guess she has doctors at hand to keep her going.

Her blood sugars must be all over the place.

I'm no fan, but having a daughter with T1, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It must be very, very difficult to keep it in check as there are so many factors which affect BG readings.

But you're right OP, she doesn't look well.

I feel very sorry for her and I do wonder why she has kept going. She must really have the most incredible sense of duty not to have thrown in the towel ages ago.

Meanwhile David Cameron gets off scot free!

LucheroTena · 29/03/2019 08:36

I don’t. She brought it all on herself. Queen of the Clusterfuckers.

They all look like this when they’re on their way out of office. In a few months you’ll see her looking tanned and younger jetting off around the world with Phil to do the speech circuit, laughing as you queue up for your hard Brexit bread rations.

hidinginthenightgarden · 29/03/2019 09:01

I feel sorry for her. Yes she put herself forward but she wasn't to know that whatever she did, she would be undermined quite to this extent. The remainers in office seem to be purposely blocking suggestions in the hope that they can reverse Brexit.
She could have waled away and let some other poor sod suffer but she hasn't and as the first female pm since thatcher, I would imagine she feels even more pressure than any man would.

maddiemookins16mum · 29/03/2019 09:09

I feel for her because a part of me thinks that if she had a penis (or was a reincarnation of Maggie T) and was doing/had done exactly the same stuff to date re Brexit, we’d be leaving today with a deal.

GarthFunkel · 29/03/2019 09:31

Every time I think of this - Don't you think she looks tired?

Tomtontom · 29/03/2019 09:36

It's not a lack of penis that's stopping her presenting a decent deal, it's shockingly bad communication skills and stubbornness.

I expect she has already booked a nice long holiday to recover.
Meanwhile, the rest of us.....

SummerHouse · 29/03/2019 09:39

I admire her. She is like an elderly Duracell bunny.

killpop · 29/03/2019 09:41

I really dislike her and what she stands for, but can objectively admire her tenacity. I imagine some of her drive comes from being a woman in a very rare position, and the foresight to know what will be said if/when she backs down.

But yes, she looks ill. I have enough humanity to empathise with anyone who's job makes them feel like she is looking.

Fazackerley · 29/03/2019 09:41

God keeps her going I expect. She's a vicars dd with a huge sense of duty. Shame she's done it all wrong though.

CommunistLegoBloc · 29/03/2019 09:49

People who feel sorry for her - what?! She had a fucking choice! She didn’t support Brexit but she decided to throw us all the wolves with her half-arsed vision simply so she could have some power. She can go fuck herself.

RB68 · 29/03/2019 09:51

She was handed a poison chalice and knew that walking into the job. Very courageous and brave knowing what was ahead.

She is type 1 and has a pump, but the levels of travel, meetings, strain and stress are beyond humanfor anyone. I would challenge anyone to put forward someone they thought could have done better in these circumstances.

Fazackerley · 29/03/2019 09:54

Labour wouldn't have worked with any Tory. They couldn't wait to put the boot in. She has literally been a human sacrifice.

Susiesoap7 · 29/03/2019 10:04

I feel sorry for her, she does not look well
I would hate to do her job, and wonder what weak faced individual will take over, there's not a lot to choose from

DuggeesWoggle · 29/03/2019 10:15

What was that from GarthFunkel? 2 great actors together!

GloriousGoosebumps · 29/03/2019 10:24

It's interesting how we all see Theresa May so differently. I don't see tenacity or a sense of duty. I see the human equivalent of a deer frozen in the headlights who can no longer adapt her thinking to take on board other people's views. How else can you explain her insistence on bringing the same exit plan back time after time rather than listening to MP's and at least attempting to address their criticisms. As for praising her for taking on a job no one else wanted - she's ambitious, and why shouldn't she be, she probably saw it as her only ambition to become PM.

GloriousGoosebumps · 29/03/2019 10:26

Her only chance...

GarthFunkel · 29/03/2019 10:47

DuggeesWoggle It's from Doctor Who. That's Harriet Jones, Prime Minister WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE

kissmelittleass · 29/03/2019 10:56

I'm always saying I feel sorry for her, she'll end up with a heart attack she looks so stressed. I'm waiting for her to have a meltdown and go do you know what fuck the lot of you I'm off 😆

Argeles · 29/03/2019 11:15

I couldn’t give 2 shits about her.

She took on the job and could have given it up at any time, which a lot of people wish she had have done (me included).

The only thing that concerns me, is which other vile arsehole will replace her.

AdamNichol · 29/03/2019 11:16

She is doing a job that no-one wanted to do. She wasn’t pro-brexit. She is not in this alone - lots of advisors - but she is taking all the flack for it.

It wasn't a job no one wanted. She is no martyr who stepped up to take the bullet. She fought tooth and nail for years to grab a shot at the top spot, and knew exactly what the landscape was. When she got in she had numerous opportunities to adjust her position on the extent and timing of brexit, but refused them all; dug her heels in and is now stuck with forcing thru a bad outcome merely so she doesn't go down in history as the ineffective PM who also eviscerated the Tories for a generation (coz if she pulls the plug on Brexit, UKIP zombie up out of the grave and Labour [if they've any sense] will be their antagonists).
The more ineffective she became, the more she dug her heels in. Stupid approach to take; all politicians pride before country. Zero sympathy for her. But if she actually stepped up and fell on a sword, maybe there'd be something laudable to her legacy. For the moment her legacy is brexit balls up, a rise in child poverty to 30% (70% of whom are in working families), 50% children born into rented accommodation, and a teacher recruitment and retention crisis that is about to break UK schools (yes, she inherited this, but has done sfa to fix it).
