Recently Ive had great service from amazon and Ocado.

Also Merci Maman, they helped me out with a sentimental piece of jewellery free of charge and with no questions asked.

Ikea, I moved house and lost a few screws for my very old Ikea bed. They helped me work out what pieces I needed and posted them to me free of charge.

Also Vodafone their 2 year warranty on iPhones meant I was given a replacement for my phone that had a pixel out when a took it in the day before the warranty expired.

B and Q are really good.

ShatnersWigIsActuallyAMammoth · 28/03/2019 08:54

Small local theatre
First Direct
John Lewis and Waitrose (at least in store)

Direct Line Insurance ,truly amazing when I had a non fault accident .

First Direct, super efficient

Fitbit, mine broke (where you charge it ) no problem description and photo of problem submitted, new one delivered.

Dyson DC40 no longer picking up, did all the usual fixes ,no joy . Engineer attended sorted it and his mobile no. was given to us,should we have any more problems .

I don't mean to sound rude, but you are very easily impressed!

More impressive would have been for their shoppers to pick you an item that wasn't going out of date tomorrow. Or of they had no choice, to flag it up to up proactively.

Only reacting after you put the legwork in doesn't sound that great tbh and I would certainly not call it impressive.

amusedbush · 28/03/2019 08:59

Starbucks have excellent customer service, in my experience. Although their markup on coffee is enormous so it doesn't hurt them to offer a couple of free drinks.

lhw92 · 28/03/2019 09:00

John Lewis
Ocado
Amazon
Pret a manger

buzzbobbly · 28/03/2019 09:20

I honestly don't get the wildly disproportionate love for First Direct.

I bank elsewhere but I can't think of the last time I needed to call them as I can do everything I want online/via the app anyway. And if I really need help, I can go into a branch (but again, can't recall last time I did that!).

So why such a cult-like following just because you can phone FD? I don't want to have to phone up everytime, for one!

YouBumder · 28/03/2019 09:22

JL used to be great but have turned shit.

Schuh are good IME

Northernbeachbum · 28/03/2019 09:27

Joie have impressed me lately

StarJumpsandaHalf · 28/03/2019 09:34

Haven’t John Lewis outsourced their customer services to Capita? I’ve found them very poor for a few years now when they used to be the industry number one, the standard you wished others would achieve. Last time I had a problem it was so badly dealt with that I escalated it to their CEO’s office.

I’ll second Lakeland as being excellent.

Ocado I’ve found good, but have reason to contact them far too frequently. I’d rather they got things right.

heidipi · 28/03/2019 09:45

Buzzbobbly I agree I do most stuff online too but when I do need to phone (lost my card a few weeks ago for the first time in years, a few months ago got locked out of online banking by mistake), I get straight through to a person and they can actually help. I phone other banks for work and every one is automated, you're on hold for at least a few mins, loads of options to choose from, if you pick the wrong one you have to hang up and start again, enter account details, date of birth etc, then when I finally get through to a person, I have to give them all the details again, so often end up exasperated before I start!
Also going into branches can take ages due to long queues and hardly any staff, just machines.
Phoning up and speaking to a helpful person sounds obvious but it's like a breath of fresh air! After attempting to deal with RBS, Barclays and HSBC for work in the last couple of weeks...

Hoppinggreen · 28/03/2019 09:48

Amazon, Ocado, Toyota ( local dealership)

Hoppinggreen · 28/03/2019 09:51

buzz I don’t agree
Mistakes get made but I judge a company on how quickly and efficiently they sort the mistake out.
( unless they cock things up constantly obvs)

buzzbobbly · 28/03/2019 09:56

Hmm. I can report my card/s lost or stolen in the app, so no bother there.

For resetting my online banking (have not needed to yet in about 15 years ) I just call the main number and I don't remember there being any annoying repetition.

Now, Halifax, on the other hand, have made it an ART to have a shitty app and website, and even worse call centre...! Angry

claragolightly · 28/03/2019 10:27

AO and Plusnet for me, both fantastic!

outpinked · 28/03/2019 10:31

Wagamama.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 28/03/2019 11:00

I'd forgotten AO. The idea that you can get next day delivery on a major domestic appliance... astonishing!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 28/03/2019 11:03

@buzzbobbly yes I am easily impressed

Pret A Manger - as a heavily pregnant mum of a toddler, they are always so lovely and helpful. I feel like a valued guest rather than huge noisy annoyance as in some cafes. Realise this might just be our local branch, but it is so noticeably better than anywhere else that I emailed their hq to compliment them.

ineedaknittedhat · 28/03/2019 11:58

Carphone Warehouse is always very good when I upgrade my phones.

I find the smaller online companies are very good as well.
