My 2yo coloured my NEW composite white door with dark blue permanent markers today. He also coloured the Bannister, wallpaper, mirrors, skirting and walls.
He did this is the few minutes I allowed myself to cry to the health visitor.
The last time she visited he ate washing powder and had to go to A&E.

I've tried to get it off all day and nothing seems to be working. Hopefully you fantastic people will have lots of tips and tricks!
I've written off the wallpaper because he's pulled most of it off. The woodwork I can sand and paint.
If I can only save my door then I will feel less hopeless and less like giving up and walking out on the lot of them.

Thank you.

I would try hairspray, alcohol, magic eraser, Cif, toothpaste... Not all at once

You need to go round your house and spot anything the child can get hold of that they shouldn't and put it out if sight and reach.

My son took a lot of cash/notes out of my purse and it turned up awhile later in the post office set I made for him because he thought the pretend money was silly and wanted real money to play with!

Lesson learned and purse was hidden from sight.

Dry wipe marker is great for getting permanent marker off white boards (something to do with the solvent). It might work for your door... Draw over it, leave for a few minutes, and wipe it off.

notsomumsymum · 26/03/2019 18:28

A magic sponge got crayon off my walls. Worth a try?

cosmicgirl97 · 26/03/2019 18:30

Vodka/gin (decent slosh) on a baby wipe. If that fails then nail polish remover but be more cautious as might damage the surface.

Palominoo · 26/03/2019 18:32

Or just drink the vodka/gin and dont give a toss about the marker pen.

Miltonroad · 26/03/2019 18:33

Cheap hairspray dilutes it

gaggiagirl · 26/03/2019 18:42

I've got peanut butter, shaving foam and toothpaste on it, not mixed together. Now we wait..

gaggiagirl · 26/03/2019 18:44

I can borrow several dry wipes from work in the morning!
Now also trying flash with bleach.

Peanut butter did not work. Toothpaste didn't. Shaving foam did a little, so did flash with bleach.

Dry wipe markers on top will only work if the surface is hydophobic
Any absorbance of liquid and you will end up with a bigger stain.
And as you have probably abraded the surface by scrubbing at it it is likely to be absorbant.

I would suggest alcohol, or bleach on a cotton pad taped over the stain...but I'm worried your kid would eat it.

TheMarbleFaun · 26/03/2019 20:13

Definitely try the magic eraser as they seem to remove marks from most things

Handofglory · 26/03/2019 20:17

I randomly removed a similar stain with the oil from a reed diffuser!

NoTNoShade · 26/03/2019 20:19

Anti-bacterial hand gel gets permanent marker off clothes. My dd is doing her art GCSE so we are constantly removing permanent marker.
